In the North, the price of live pigs today, October 11, 2024, has decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, ranging from 66,000 to 67,000 VND/kg.

Traders in Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Binh and Hanoi bought live pigs at VND67,000/kg, equivalent to the highest regional price recorded in Yen Bai, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Ha Nam, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang.

In contrast, the purchase price of live pigs in Ninh Binh and Lao Cai is 66,000 VND/kg, the lowest price in the region at present.

Pig price in Central Highlands region

The price of live pigs in this area today has not changed much, ranging from 64,000 to 66,000 VND/kg.

Traders in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh are buying live pigs at the highest price in the region, 66,000 VND/kg.

On the contrary, in Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh, Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan, the lowest price for live pigs is 64,000 VND/kg.

In other localities in the region, the price of live pigs is 65,000 VND/kg.

Pig price in the Southern region

Pig prices in the South today are stable, ranging from 63,000 to 65,000 VND/kg.

Traders in Binh Duong, Long An, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Vinh Long and Ca Mau are buying pigs at the highest price in the region of 65,000 VND/kg.

On the contrary, in Ben Tre, the lowest price for buying live pigs is 63,000 VND/kg.

In other southern provinces, the purchase price is around 64,000 VND/kg.

In the first 9 months of 2024, the livestock industry in Kien Giang province recorded strong growth with the number of pigs reaching nearly 265,900 and poultry exceeding 5.86 million.

This growth, which represents an increase of 22% for pigs and 13% for poultry compared to the same period last year, was mainly due to effective disease control and stable market prices.

People have seized this opportunity to restock and expand their livestock farming. The advantage of the flood season brings abundant food sources, helping to increase the number of ducks in the fields.

However, the expansion of farm animal husbandry remains limited, with many obstacles in establishing new farms.

Some farm construction projects are not located within the pre-determined livestock planning areas, leading to delays in implementation.

To prevent epidemics, the Kien Giang Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department continues to implement the plan to distribute free disinfectants and vaccinate livestock.

Preventive measures include vaccinating livestock against foot-and-mouth disease and maintaining regular vaccination of pigs and poultry to ensure the health of livestock.
