(Baonghean.vn) - At this time, when the price of live pigs begins to increase rapidly, many pig farmers in the mountainous districts of Nghe An have no more pigs to sell.

For many months now, the price of live pigs has dropped dramatically, causing many small-scale farmers and farms in Anh Son district to suffer heavy losses, even bankrupting many large-scale farmers. Since the beginning of July, the price of live pigs has begun to show signs of increasing rapidly from 24,000 VND/kg to 42,000 VND/kg.

However, people are still not very excited, partly because there are no pigs to sell, and partly because it is difficult to restore the herd because the price of piglets has started to increase while people no longer have the capital to restore the herd.

Coming to the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Truong in village 7, Thach Son commune, at this time there are only a few pigs left in the barn. Ms. Truong said with dismay: Half a month ago, my family had just sold 30 pigs, at that time the price of pigs was at 24 thousand VND/kg, in less than a week the price of pigs increased "dizzily" to 42 thousand VND/kg. Calculating that 4 tons of pigs, my family lost over 70 million VND. Now the price of pigs has increased but there are no more pigs to sell.

According to Ms. Truong, at this time, it is not only her family that does not have pigs to sell, but almost all households in the commune are in the same situation because for a long time the price of pigs has been too low, people in the village have to sell them off or slaughter them together to salvage some capital, not daring to raise them. Therefore, now that the price of pigs has increased, pigs for meat have become scarce.

In contrast to the scene of hundreds of pigs crowded together at each litter, at this time, the pig pen of Ms. Bui Thi Dung's family in village 7, Thach Son commune is almost empty, with only about ten piglets that cannot be sold.

Ms. Dung said: When the price of pigs dropped, she begged for a long time but no one came to buy them, so she dumped 50 pigs for 24,000 VND/kg, causing her to lose nearly 100 million VND. Now that the price of pigs has increased, Ms. Dung still does not dare to re-herd massively. According to Ms. Dung, the price of piglets has also started to increase sharply from 200,000 VND to 500,000 VND/super lean pig, and the supply is also scarce, because many sows have been sold out by people.
