Rice price today June 13, 2025: OM 18 rice price dropped sharply to 6,200 VND/kg, prices of some raw rice varieties increased slightly

Domestic rice prices today

Rice prices today, June 13, 2025, recorded notable fluctuations in the Mekong Delta region. In particular, the price of OM 18 rice decreased sharply, while the price of raw rice only fluctuated slightly, with some types even increasing in price. The rice market continues to differentiate according to quality and supply.

Domestic rice prices remained stable for most varieties. Raw rice R 504 increased slightly by VND 50/kg to VND 7,900 - 8,100/kg. Other popular rice varieties such as CL 555, OM 380, OM 5451 or Jasmine did not record significant fluctuations.

Retail rice prices at traditional markets also remain stable, ranging from 15,000 - 22,000 VND/kg for regular rice and fragrant rice, while Nang Nhen rice still reaches the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg.

Domestic rice prices tend to decrease. Notably, OM 18 rice (fresh) decreased by 600 VND/kg, down to 6,200 VND/kg. OM 5451 rice also decreased by 200 VND, down to 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg.

Dai Thom 8 rice decreased by 300 VND, ranging from 6,300 - 6,500 VND/kg. Meanwhile, other rice varieties such as Nang Hoa 9, IR 50404 and OM 380 remained stable in price.

By-product segments such as rice husk, broken rice, and bran have no new changes. Rice husk is purchased from 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg, OM 5451 broken rice is at 7,400 - 7,500 VND/kg, bran fluctuates from 7,700 - 7,800 VND/kg.

Export rice price

According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam's rice export market remained stable on June 13. Specifically, 100% broken rice remained at 318 USD/ton, 25% broken rice at 364 USD/ton and 5% broken rice at 388 USD/ton.

This price is lower than that of Thailand (401 USD/ton) and Pakistan (392 USD/ton), but still higher than that of India (382 USD/ton).

This is a signal that Vietnam is still maintaining a relatively competitive position in the market, despite fluctuations from competitors.

In India, the world’s largest rice exporter, exports in the first two months of fiscal 2025-26 fell nearly 60% year-on-year, mainly due to weak international demand and high inventories in importing countries.

The country's 5% broken white rice price is currently at $384 per tonne (FOB), while parboiled rice has dropped to $377 per tonne - the lowest in the past five years.

Notably, the decline came soon after India lifted its export ban in September 2024. While the initial surge in exports was accompanied by a surge in early hoarding in import markets, the early wave of hoarding quickly receded, leaving behind a persistent oversupply.

As of May 2025, the export volume of parboiled rice was only 207,000 tons and white rice was 292,000 tons, a sharp decrease compared to the peak in previous months.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) is currently holding record inventories of nearly 38 million tonnes of rice and more than 32 million tonnes of paddy. The move to sell rice at low prices for ethanol production has observers worried that it will further add to the oversupply pressure on the global market.

In the context of many traditional markets such as Bangladesh reducing imports and competitors not being able to make a new breakthrough, India's rice export target of 24 million tons as previously forecast by USDA is being questioned. This will continue to be a factor that directly affects the trend of world rice prices in the coming time.
