Impersonating the owner to steal 90 iPhones worth more than 1 billion VND
Due to a large debt, Tran Vu Tuan impersonated the owner of the goods to steal a package of 90 iPhones, worth more than 1 billion VND.
On the evening of June 6, the Investigation Police Agency of Thai Nguyen City Police (Thai Nguyen Province) announced that the unit had initiated a case, prosecuted the accused and temporarily detained Tran Vu Tuan (born in 1985, residing in Group 11, Phu Xa Ward, Thai Nguyen City) for the crime of "Theft of property".

Previously, Thai Nguyen City Police received a report from Mr. Nguyen Duc T. (born in 1990, residing in Dong Quang Ward, Thai Nguyen City) about ordering a package of 90 iPhones to be sent to office 236, Hoang Van Thu, belonging to Ha Lan Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company (in group 13, Quang Trung Ward).
However, when Mr. T. went to this office, he found out that someone pretended to be him and came to pick up the package.
Immediately after receiving the report, Thai Nguyen City Police mobilized forces and urgently investigated the subject.
Less than 24 hours later, the Criminal Police Department of the City Police Department identified the perpetrator of this theft as Tran Vu Tuan.
At the police station, Tuan confessed that he used to be a phone repairman for Mr. T., and because he owed a large amount of money, he had the idea of using a junk SIM card to call the hotline of Ha Lan Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company to ask the people Tuan knew (all of whom were in the phone business in Thai Nguyen City) if they had any consignment goods for the day.
When he knew the goods had arrived, Tuan went to the office address of Ha Lan Trading and Tourism Joint Stock Company, impersonating the owner to receive the goods.
To avoid detection, Tuan wore a long-sleeved shirt, a mask, a helmet, and hired a motorbike taxi to go to the place to receive the goods. After that, Tuan changed clothes, continuously switched to other taxis and motorbike taxis to move around to erase his traces and avoid being tracked and detected.
Currently, the police have recovered all evidence including 90 iPhones (including 72 iPhone 12 Pro Max, 17 iPhone 14 Pro and 1 iPhone 13), the value according to the victim is nearly 1.1 billion VND.
