(Baonghean.vn) - Vinh City Police have just arrested dozens of people specializing in property theft, confiscating 10 motorbikes, worth more than 200 million VND and many related exhibits.

Through the work of grasping the situation, Vinh City Police discovered the abovesocial networkThere are a number of associations and groups that attract many young people from Vinh City and some districts to participate. In these associations and groups, young people from inside and outside the area contact and collude with each other, taking advantage of people's carelessness to commit acts of stealing motorbikes in apartments and public places.

During the process of verifying and collecting documents and evidence, Vinh City Police identified the subjects operating with extremely sophisticated methods and tricks. They communicated with each other through technology applications such as Zalo, Viber, Messenger, Telegram, etc. Then they made appointments at apartment buildings and public places, taking advantage of the lack of supervision of security guards and residents to commit theft. To evade the authorities, during the process, the subjects often wore masks, divided into groups, with some groups assigned to guard outside, so that when there was "motion", they could signal their accomplices. After stealing, they contacted and connected with other subjects to consume and sell the goods for personal use.

Faced with the above situation, the Provincial Police Department directed the Vinh City Police Department to establish a special project, mobilize officers and soldiers of the Criminal Police Team and the General Investigation Team to join the case with the determination to eradicate the gang specializing in property theft in the shortest time.

During the investigation, the Task Force encountered many difficulties because the criminals were mobile and frequently changed their residence. When committing the crimes, the criminals wore sun jackets, masks, drove vehicles without license plates, and took advantage of the night to steal property. After committing the crimes, the criminals quickly escaped from Vinh City to dispose of the property.

The Task Force has persistently and synchronously deployed professional measures, collected documents and evidence, monitored the movements and operating patterns of this gang specializing in property theft, waiting for the right opportunity to "spread the net".

On May 13, realizing that the opportunity was ripe, the leaders of Vinh City Police mobilized many officers and soldiers of the Special Project Committee to coordinate with Team 373 of Vinh City Police to synchronously deploy professional measures, successfully breaking the special project, simultaneously arresting 14 subjects inside and outside the area, including: Nguyen The Ngoc (born in 2005), residing in Hung Nguyen district (once sentenced by the People's Court of Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh to 12 months in prison for robbery, completed the prison sentence from May 14, 2023); Luong Hai Nam (born in 2001), residing in Que Phong district; PVN (born in 2008), LQV (born in 2007) residing in Hung Nguyen district; Vuong Ngoc Khanh (born in 2000), NBL (born in 2007), NVH (born in 2009), Nguyen Anh Tuan (born in 2006), NQT (born in 2008), NAK (born in 2010), Nguyen Trong Minh (born in 2004), Bien Ngoc Phuong (born in 2005), Vu Van Duc (born in 2004), Le Hong Nhat (born in 2006), all residing in Vinh City.

Initially, the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency determined that the subjects were idlers and addicted to games, so they invited each other to commit acts of theft to sell for money. They met each other through social networks and invited each other to take advantage of people's and security guards' negligence in managing and looking after motorbikes to commit acts of breaking locks and stealing motorbikes.

Using that method and trick, from May 4 to May 9, the subjects committed 3 motorbike thefts in Quan Bau ward, Hung Dung ward, Vinh city and many cases occurred in Ha Tinh province, taking away 10 motorbikes, worth more than 200 million VND.

Currently, the Vinh City Police Investigation Agency is temporarily detaining 8 suspects to continue investigating and handling the acts of property theft and consumption of property obtained by others through crime.
