Prices of many key agricultural export products have decreased sharply.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the consumer price index in October increased by 0.49% compared to the previous month and increased by 5.14% compared to December 2012. In the first 10 months of 2013, the consumer price index increased by 6.74% compared to the same period.

Regarding the import-export situation, in the first 10 months of 2013, our country had a trade deficit of 187 million USD, equivalent to 0.71% of total export turnover. In the first 10 months of 2013, export turnover is estimated at 107.97 billion USD, an increase of 15.2% over the same period.

Coffee export turnover decreased by 23.9%

Some agricultural products have increased export turnover compared to the same period in 2012 such as aquatic products (up 6.2%), vegetables and fruits (up 23.4%), cashew nuts (up 9.6%)...

In addition, many key agricultural export products also saw a sharp decrease in export turnover, such as coffee down 23.9%, rice down 16.9%, cassava and cassava products down 21.3%, rubber down 13.7%... In addition to the decrease in quantity, the sharp decrease in prices of many agricultural export products is one of the major reasons for the decrease in export turnover of some agricultural products, specifically, the export price of cashew nuts down 6.2%, pepper down 2.1%, rice down 3.3%, rubber down 16.9%... compared to the same period.

Meanwhile, compared to the same period in 2012, the prices of many imported agricultural materials and supplies increased sharply compared to exports, typically wheat increased by 12.3%, corn increased by 5%...

Domestically, fertilizer prices are also falling sharply. Currently, Phu My Urea price is around 7,800 - 7,850 VND/kg, Ca Mau Urea price is around 7,600 - 8,200 VND/kg. With the above level, domestic fertilizer prices have dropped to the lowest level since the beginning of the year. Low consumption demand since the beginning of the year has also caused the inventory of many types of fertilizers to increase, such as DAP fertilizer inventory of 71 thousand tons, Urea inventory of more than 210 thousand tons...

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said that the prices of poultry and livestock breeds are currently increasing sharply due to the demand for breeds at the end of the year. However, it is forecasted that agricultural and food products are unlikely to increase dramatically in the last months of the year.
