According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the market is entering a price increase cycle due to a decrease in supply.
The upcoming year-end holiday season has boosted demand, while exports from Vietnam have fallen according to recent reports, adding to the upward pressure on prices.
In addition, demand in major markets such as the US, EU, Asia, especially China, has also recovered significantly.
World pepper price today
Update on world pepper prices from the International Pepper Community (IPC), at the end of the most recent trading session, IPC listed the price of Indonesian Lampung black pepper at 6,736 USD/ton (down 1.1%), and the price of Muntok white pepper at 8,907 USD/ton (down 1.1%).
Brazilian ASTA 570 black pepper price was at USD 6,275/ton (down 1.2%). Malaysian ASTA black pepper price was at USD 8,200/ton; ASTA white pepper price of this country reached USD 10,400/ton.
The price of Vietnamese black pepper today suddenly increased sharply, trading at 6,400 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 6,700 USD/ton; white pepper price at 9,600 USD/ton.
In the first 15 days of December, according to a report from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association, our country exported 7,029 tons of pepper of all kinds, earning 46.5 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume decreased by 30.2%, but the turnover increased by 22.9%.
In terms of markets, the US was the leading destination in the first half of December, accounting for 30.5% of total exports, equivalent to 2,144 tons. Among the enterprises participating in the export, Olam Vietnam, Nedspice, Tran Chau, Harris Spice and Phuc Sinh were the five leading units.
From the beginning of the year to December 15, the total pepper export volume reached 242,364 tons, earning 1.26 billion USD. Although output decreased by 5.2% compared to the same period in 2023, turnover increased by 45.2%. Notably, the average pepper export price reached 5,216 USD/ton, up 53.14% compared to the same period last year.
