Giá tiêu hôm nay 6/1/2025: Tăng mạnh tuần đầu năm mới, ngược chiều giá cà phê

Pepper prices today, January 6, 2025, increased sharply in the first week of the new year. This is a positive signal for the Vietnamese pepper industry, especially in the context of low inventory and increasing demand from major markets such as the US, EU, and China.

However, the pepper industry still faces many major challenges. Prolonged drought, especially in the Central Highlands provinces, has significantly affected pepper productivity and quality.

Rising fertilizer, labor and transportation costs have squeezed farmers’ and businesses’ profits. In addition, pepper diseases remain a major concern, reducing pepper growing areas in recent years.

A notable trend is that many farmers are switching to growing higher value crops such as durian and coffee. This reduces pepper supply, creating upward pressure on prices in domestic and international markets.

With limited supply and high demand, pepper prices are forecast to continue to increase this week. The expected increase ranges from 500 - 1,500 VND/kg in some areas, especially in localities with active purchasing activities such as Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, and Dak Lak.
