Gold and USD prices rise; Coffee prices fall but remain high

Gold prices bounce back
Today January 19,YellowDomestic gold price increased by 300,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions, world gold price turned around and increased again.

At the time of survey at 5:00 am today, on the trading floor of some companies as follows:
DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 73.95 million VND/tael for buying and 76.45 million VND/tael for selling.
At Mi Hong Gold and Gemstone Company, the price of Mi Hong gold at the time of survey listed the price of SJC gold at 74.50 - 75.50 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited was also traded by the enterprise at 74.10 - 76.45 million VND/tael (buy - sell).
According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,022.645 USD/ounce, a difference of 17,385 USD/ounce compared to yesterday's gold price. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 59.186 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 14.814 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
USD rises for fifth consecutive session
World USD today, January 19, continues to stay high for the fifth consecutive session, increasing 25 VND in both buying and selling directions.
The central VND/USD exchange rate announced by the State Bank today is adjusted to 24,041 VND/USD, an increase of 24 VND compared to the trading session on January 18.

Currently, the exchange rate allowed for trading by commercial banks ranges from 23,400 - 25,167 VND/USD. The US dollar exchange rate has also been brought to the buying and selling range by the State Bank of Vietnam from 23,400 to 25,167 VND/USD.
The foreign exchange rate and domestic USD price this morning recorded a series of upward adjustments at banks. Specifically, Vietcombank has a buying price of 24,355 and a selling price of 24,725, an increase of 25 VND compared to the trading session on January 18. The current buying and selling prices of USD are in the range of 23,400 - 25,300 VND/USD.
In the world market, the Dollar Index (DXY), measuring the USD against 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 103.49 points - up 0.04% compared to the transaction on January 18.
The dollar index rose for a fifth straight session on Thursday after labor market data showed job growth, keeping expectations of a rate cut from the US Federal Reserve (FED) in check.
Oil prices are expected to increase sharply in the next two years.
Oil priceThe rise comes as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries forecasts that global crude oil demand will increase relatively strongly in 2024 and 2025. In addition, disruptions to US oil production due to severe weather and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East also pushed oil prices up.

In the domestic market, the selling prices of gasoline and oil today are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of January 18 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade.
Accordingly, gasoline prices were adjusted upward. Notably, the price of RON 95 gasoline increased beyond VND22,000 per liter.
Specifically, the price of E5 gasoline increased by 370 VND per liter, the selling price increased to 21,410 VND per liter. The price of RON 95 gasoline increased by 550 VND per liter, the selling price is 22,480 VND per liter.
Diesel price increased by 490 VND per liter, selling price up to 20,190 VND per liter. Kerosene price increased by 200 VND per liter, selling price is 20,530 VND per liter.
Coffee down 800 VND/kg
PricecoffeeDomestic coffee prices updated at 5:00 a.m. on January 19 continued to decrease by 800 VND/kg, however, prices are still high. Currently, the average coffee price in the Central Highlands provinces is about 71,800 VND/kg, the highest purchase price in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces is 72,000 VND/kg.
Coffee is purchased in Gia Lai and Kon Tum provinces at the price of 71,900 VND/kg; In Dak Nong province, coffee is purchased at the highest price of 72,000 VND/kg.
The price of green coffee beans (coffee beans, fresh coffee beans) in Lam Dong province in districts such as Bao Loc, Di Linh, Lam Ha, coffee is purchased at 71,400 VND/kg./.
