The Asian Chess Federation is divided into 6 regions (3.1 to 3.6), of which region 3.3 includes 15 countries and territories. However, only strong chess countries such as Indonesia, Mongolia, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam sent troops to participate in this year's tournament.
The top two male and one female players on the overall rankings will qualify for the 2011 World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, so this competition promises to be exciting and dramatic.
Currently, Vietnamese chess has 3 players Le Quang Liem, Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Pham Le Thao Nguyen who have won the right to participate in the World Cup through high achievements in the Asian Chess Championship in 2010 and 2011. The Regional Tournament 3.3 will compete in 9 rounds and end on May 30.
