Rescued 65 tourists stuck on cable car for 2 hours
65 tourists were rescued from the cable car, suspended in the air for 2 hours, still in shock and fear. Fortunately, the rescue was successful and no one was injured.
The incident occurred at Heavenly Mountain Resort in Lake Tahoe, California, USA. Accordingly, a group of skiers were sitting on a cable car. Suddenly, an empty chair separated and fell to the ground. Immediately, the control department had to stop the cable car system even though dozens of guests were stuck up high.

After more than 2 hours of hanging in the air, 65 tourists were brought down by a zip line system. Among the rescued guests, athlete Jeffery Booth posted the memorable moment on social media.

Meanwhile, Christopher Strunk, a tourist from San Francisco, was stuck at the top with his 12-year-old daughter, who has a fear of heights. He shared: “She didn’t sleep all night and said she would never ride the chairlift again. The scariest thing was sitting there for hours, staring at the chair that had just fallen to the ground in front of us, wondering if we were next. I’ve been skiing for 35 years and nothing like this has ever happened.”

The resort is currently closed for a few days so the cable car maintenance team can repair the problem and find out the cause.
In an interview with the media, a representative of the resort said: “We always give top priority to the safety of our customers and staff. As soon as the incident occurred, we stopped the cable car operation and evacuated all 65 visitors. No one was injured in this accident. The technical team will complete the investigation to find the cause. We can assure you that we will do everything in our power to prevent similar incidents from happening again.”
