National First Division 2021: Coach Sy Son faces Coach Thanh Cong in the opening round

During the time when Vietnam's professional football tournaments are temporarily suspended due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, VPF Company, the Tournament Executive Board and the clubs are preparing for the opening of the 2021 National First Division.

The 2021 National First Division brings together 13 teams including An Giang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Phuoc, Can Tho, People's Public Security, Dak Lak, Hue, Khanh Hoa, Long An, Pho Hien, Phu Dong, Phu Tho and Quang Nam with the competition format divided into 2 stages similar to V.League 2021.

Phase 1 will go through 13 rounds, based on the scores to divide group A including the top 7 clubs to compete for promotion, group B including 8 clubs in the bottom half of the rankings (8-13) to compete for relegation. The 2021 First Division will have 1.5 promotion spots and 1 relegated team.

The opening match of the 2021 National First Division is the confrontation between Phu Tho and Khanh Hoa Clubs. This is expected to be an exciting confrontation as both clubs clearly show their desire to play in the 2022 V.League.

Also in the opening round, the 2017 V.League champion, Quang Nam Club, played byCoach Nguyen Thanh Congwill have a guest trip to Binh Phuoc - the team is being led by another coach from Nghe An.Coach Van Sy Son.

This match is expected when Quang Nam aims to return to V.League next year, after a disappointing season as the former champion of Vietnamese football. Meanwhile, this is the first time Coach Van Sy Son has debuted with a new team as head coach.

The 2021 National First Division is expected to start from March 20, 2021 and end on September 18, 2021. The prize for the winning team is 1 billion VND, the Second Prize Club 500 million VND, and the Third Prize Club 250 million VND.
