(Baonghean) - Our province is implementing the Project for the Development of Non-fired Bricks until 2020. This is considered a revolution in construction materials, both exploiting the potential of the area and saving fuel. At a meeting with relevant departments on this project in July, Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - concluded and emphasized: From 2014 onwards, for public works projects, regardless of whether they are funded by the state or private sector, 30% of the total amount of non-fired bricks must be used. In addition, lightweight concrete bricks are also encouraged.

It is known that Nghe An province's target by 2013 was to reach 100 million non-fired bricks per year. By 2020, the target is to reach 1 billion bricks per year. Currently, several non-fired brick projects are underway in Nghe An, including: a lightweight concrete block project at Dong Hoi Industrial Park, Hoang Mai Town, Quynh Luu District, with a capacity of 400,000 m³/year, equivalent to 200 million bricks/year; a non-fired brick project at Truong Thach Industrial Cluster (Nghi Loc District), with a capacity of 45 million bricks/year; a non-fired brick project at Do Lang Industrial Park, Nghi Lam, Nghi Loc District; a lightweight concrete block production project in Thai Hoa Town, with a capacity of 400,000 m³/year, equivalent to 200 million bricks/year; and the non-fired brick project of Kieu Phuong Company in Tan Ky, with a capacity of 15 million tons/year.

With the above requirements from the provincial leadership, it is expected that the market for non-fired brick projects, which are a developing trend in the construction sector, will be cleared, while contributing to environmental protection, returning land to agricultural use, and reducing the use of fossil fuels. By 2020, all traditional fired brick kilns and manual brick kilns will cease operation in the province.
