Solutions to turn tourism in Nghe An into a spearhead economic sector

(Baonghean.vn) - By 2030, Nghe An strives to become one of the tourist centers of the North Central region and contribute 9-10% of tourism to the province's GRDP. According to the roadmap to 2020, tourism contributes 5-6% to the province's GRDP.

That is the important content that the Provincial Party Standing Committee commented on the draft Action Program to implement Resolution No. 08/NQ-TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector on the morning of November 28.

According to the draft Action Program to implement Resolution No. 08/NQ-TW of the Politburo on developing tourism into a spearhead economic sector with a number of important goals set out to gradually turn tourism into a spearhead economic sector; striving by 2030, Nghe An will become one of the tourism centers of the North Central region and the contribution of tourism to the province's GRDP will be from 9 - 10% and in the immediate future by 2020, contributing 5 - 6% to the province's GRDP.

The draft also clearly identifies a number of highlights, namely building Kim Lien relic site into a national tourist area; Cua Lo town worthy of the status of a green, clean, and beautiful coastal tourist city; gradually building Vinh into a tourism service center; preserving and promoting the value of intangible cultural heritage of Nghe Tinh Vi Giam folk songs into a unique tourism product; attracting large-scale and high-quality resort and ecological tourism investment projects...

Giving opinions at the meeting, the Standing Committee and Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and leaders of the sectors all affirmed the necessity of issuing the Provincial Party Committee's Action Program to create a boost for tourism development.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also noted that tourism development must be closely linked to national defense and security tasks, creating a safe environment to promote tourism development; at the same time, it is necessary to supplement tourism entrance fees and establish a provincial tourism development support fund.

Agreeing with the opinion of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies, said: The Action Program needs to supplement an overview assessment, analyze and clarify limitations and difficulties, especially the reasons why tourism has not yet become a key economic sector. In addition to strengthening cooperation and linkages in tourism development with other provinces, it is necessary to strengthen linkages with Laos, Thailand, China, etc.; along with that, there should be a suitable and strict management mechanism.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Member of the Standing Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of provincial agencies, said that Nghe An tourism will contribute to economic growth and sustainable development of the province.

Concluding this content, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh pointed out the limitations, shortcomings, and limited revenue from tourism in the province in recent times; leading to difficulties in reinvesting in tourism development.

The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: In order for tourism to become a spearhead economic sector, it is necessary to have a new way of thinking about tourism, and at the same time, it is necessary to build a specific roadmap. In particular, it is necessary to focus on attracting dynamic tourism investors such as Vingroup, FLC, etc.

Comrade Nguyen Dac Vinh also emphasized that tourism promotion and advertising has long been focused on promotion, which is an old way of thinking in tourism; therefore, it is necessary to innovate, strengthen communication, information, and promote the tourism potential of Nghe An on the basis of creating events, highlights, and good communication to create efficiency.

On the basis of pointing out the potentials and strengths of Nghe An, the Provincial Party Secretary emphasized the need to clearly identify a number of tourism products for good exploitation such as: sea tourism, tourism to visit Uncle Ho's hometown, eco-tourism... Along with exploiting tourism advantages, it is necessary to create tourism services in a professional, diverse and quality direction suitable to the development requirements in the new period...

Also this morning, the Standing Committee listened to and commented on the report on the results of implementing the public investment plan in 2017, orientation for 2018; results of investment promotion and foreign economic development in 2017, and plan for 2018.

Regarding this issue, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Dac Vinh requested that sectors strictly implement the principle of public investment, that is, resolutely prioritize debt repayment sources, only start new projects when there is enough capital; use excess revenue to prioritize key and urgent projects...
