Reporter:Dear comrade, for the past 5 consecutive years, Nghe An Education sector has been highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training, becoming the leading flag in the education system of the whole country. Could you elaborate on the results that the sector has achieved in the past term?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Chi:In the past term, the provincial education sector has achieved many remarkable results: In management work, the sector has advised on many policies and strategies suitable to the actual situation of localities, having a great impact on improving the quality of education and training in the province; directed and implemented well the work of testing and quality assessment; built a team of managers, teachers, especially a team of core teachers at all levels and grades, quite evenly in all regions and schools, meeting the requirements of innovation in education and training in the period of integration and development. Implemented well the work of socializing education; facilities, equipment and gradually modernized, meeting the requirements of teaching and learning; accelerated the construction of a system of national standard schools (up to this point, the whole province has more than 905 standard schools, accounting for 59.5%, exceeding the national average by more than 20%)...

The outstanding mark in the 2010 - 2015 term is the organization and implementation of the campaign "Each teacher is a model of self-study and creativity"; the emulation movement "Building friendly schools, active students"; effectively promoting the campaign "Two no's" according to Directive 33/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister; the movement to innovate teaching and learning methods in a practical, persistent and synchronous manner, creating a strong change in the awareness of cadres, teachers, students, consensus among parents and people; the assessment of students is more practical, extra teaching and learning is rectified. The annual high school graduation exams, high school supplementary exams and grade 10 entrance exams are serious, objective, in accordance with regulations, and are supported by society and parents; Mass quality is improved, key quality is stable: continuously from 2005 - 2015, Nghe An is always in the top of the country in terms of national excellent students and the number of students passing the entrance exams to colleges and universities; there are excellent students who won Gold Medals in the Asia - Pacific region and International Gold Medals.

Reporter:Besides the achievements, Nghe An education still has difficulties, especially the gap in regional education. So what is the cause?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Chi:Besides the achievements, Nghe An education still has difficulties, especially the gap in education quality between regions: highlands, lowlands, rural plains, towns and cities. Mountainous districts, especially highlands, where schools are fragmented and small, students still have to study in combined classes and the Vietnamese language skills of ethnic minority students are limited...

The main reason is that the socio-economic conditions in regions and areas have significant differences. Therefore, the conditions for implementing quality education, such as: facilities, teaching equipment; management staff - teachers; intellectual level, learning environment, teaching conditions;... in different regions and areas. Schools - teaching equipment are still lacking, some schools - school locations do not have electricity; people's living standards are still low; parents' concept of their children's education is not appropriate; it is difficult to attract good management staff and teachers...

Reporter:What is the goal of Nghe An Education sector in the next term? Solutions to improve teaching and learning quality, gradually narrowing the regional gap?

Comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Chi:In the coming term, the Education and Training sector of Nghe An province sets the goal of maintaining the top position in the country; improving the quality of comprehensive education (morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics), focusing on key quality; drastically implementing the work of streaming, linking training with job creation; gradually improving the quality of comprehensive and sustainable education; striving to level the quality of regional education by 2020; Focusing on improving the quality of teaching cultural subjects so that students have enough knowledge to study at higher levels, professional studies, and vocational training; training quality human resources for mountainous and ethnic minority areas of the province.

To achieve this goal, in the coming time, the Education sector will focus on the following contents: Firstly, implementing Action Program No. 33 of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee (term XVII) on implementing the Resolution on fundamental and comprehensive innovation in education and training; Project on innovation of general education programs and textbooks; focusing on directing innovation in teaching, testing, examination and evaluation methods; paying attention to career guidance and streaming; discovering and nurturing talents. In addition, integrating the new rural construction program, implementing socialized education, promoting the construction of a national standard school system, considering this the most positive comprehensive measure to improve the quality of comprehensive education. Directing the implementation of improving the quality of universalizing 5-year-old preschool education, universalizing primary education at the right age, and universalizing lower secondary education to solve the foundation and quality level in regions. At the same time, continuing to effectively implement programs and projects; Build a system of boarding and semi-boarding schools for ethnic minorities; gradually reduce the number of separate schools; teach Vietnamese to ethnic minority students; continue training in combined class teaching methods; improve the capacity of managers and teachers and fully and promptly implement policies for teachers and students in mountainous and ethnic minority areas; pay attention to the education of children with disabilities, orphans, homeless children, etc.
