On March 18, the Criminal Police Department (C45 - Ministry of Public Security) announced that it had coordinated with the Interpol Office of Vietnam and the Chinese Police to successfully rescue a Vietnamese businessman who was kidnapped while traveling to Nanning (China) for business transactions.

The victim was Mr. Nguyen TA (39 years old, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi).

Previously, Department C45 received a report from Mr. A's relatives. Accordingly, on February 17, Mr. A., along with his assistant Vu DC (27 years old), entered China to Nanning city to cooperate in business with foreign enterprises. Here, two subjects (one male, one female) invited them to have breakfast in Nanning province. Afterwards, Mr. A and C continued to be taken by these two people to drink tea at a cafe.

A short while later, about 15 people came and beat the two victims, then put them in a car and drove away. At about 9 p.m. on February 18, Mr. A's family in Vietnam received a phone call from China. The subjects asked Mr. A's family to deposit money in the bank, transfer it to them, and then release the victims.

Initially, the subjects threatened and demanded 1.5 million yuan as ransom. After several contacts, they continued to increase the price to 2 million yuan (about 7 billion VND).

On February 27, as requested, Mr. A's family transferred 600,000 yuan (nearly 2 billion VND) into the kidnappers' bank account. However, after withdrawing the money, the kidnappers completely cut off contact.

Upon receiving the victim's report, C45 immediately contacted the Department of International Cooperation (V12 - Ministry of Public Security), requesting that Interpol and Chinese police coordinate in searching for the kidnapping group.

After a period of information exchange between the two countries' police for investigation, Guangzhou police (China) mobilized forces to successfully rescue the two Vietnamese victims. Local police also arrested 15 members of the kidnapping gang.

Currently, Chinese police have returned the two victims to Vietnamese police at Huu Nghi border gate (Lang Son).

Police of the two countries continue to coordinate to expand the investigation into this kidnapping ring.
