20% tax reduction for boarding house businesses

April 21, 2011 09:18

The Ministry of Finance has just decided to reduce taxes for businesses that operate boarding houses for workers and students that have pledged not to increase rental prices.

This is considered one of the measures to support poor households and low-income people. According to Decision No. 1335 signed by Deputy Minister of Finance - Do Hoang Anh Tuan on the afternoon of April 20, households that rent out boarding houses to workers and students and commit not to increase prices will receive a 20% lump-sum tax reduction.

In addition, nursery businesses in residential areas or industrial zones that commit to not increasing fees will also receive tax reductions.

This decision takes effect from May 1, along with the increase in basic salary from VND730,000 to VND830,000 per month.

Previously, the HCM City People's Committee also issued a document proposing tax reduction for these business households to ensure support for the poor and low-income people.

The Finance Ministry’s leaders said that since the beginning of the year, the prices of gasoline, electricity, water, etc. have increased too high. In the first quarter alone, inflation increased by 6.2%, so it would be unreasonable not to support renters.
