Accused of being negligent in propagating prevention measures against storm Bebinca, Director of Thai Binh Radio and Television Station Vu Anh Thao has just been temporarily suspended from work for 15 days by the provincial leaders to clarify his responsibilities.

On the afternoon of June 25, speaking with VnExpress.net, Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People's Committee Cao Thi Hai said that on June 23, the provincial leaders decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Thao from work.
"The reason is that when the provincial and industry leaders went to the area to check the storm, the people said that Thai Binh did not disseminate information, causing them to be uninformed and subjective. So the dissemination work was not timely. Luckily the storm did not come, otherwise the consequences would have been severe," said Ms. Hai.

According to Ms. Hai, Mr. Thao is a member of the Frontline Subcommittee, in charge of information and propaganda on flood and storm prevention. However, on the morning of June 23, when the storm made landfall, because he was busy chairing the Congress of the Thai Binh Radio and Television Journalists Association, Mr. Thao sent his deputy to attend a meeting of the Flood and Storm Prevention Steering Committee.

"When the meeting ended, they did not have time to discuss and disseminate information, so people were upset because of the lack of information," the Vice Chairwoman said, adding that the authorities are inspecting the duration and form of the dissemination. If there are no problems, the decision to suspend Mr. Thao from work will be revoked.

According to the report of the Thai Binh Flood and Storm Prevention Command, storm Bebinca did not cause any human casualties, and the province's works and infrastructure were safe. However, some dyke locations were eroded, a small fishing boat anchored at the wharf sank, nearly 2,500 hectares of shrimp, fish and crab ponds outside the sea dyke were flooded and eroded, causing the loss of 3,000 tons of aquatic and seafood products, with an estimated loss of 250 billion VND...
