Starting today, passengers can buy train tickets online at the following websites: www.dsvn.vn, www.vietnamrailway.vn, www.vetau.com.vn.
With this system, passengers can buy train tickets anywhere and at any time of the day via an Internet connection; easily look up information and choose the right itinerary, train car or seat according to their needs and receive 24/7 support.
There are many forms of payment: online, at stations, ATMs, banks or at post offices of Vietnam Post Corporation.
It is known that in the first phase of the electronic ticketing project, the system will provide basic features such as: searching for available seats and locations; booking tickets and paying online. Each customer can book on the website at a time no more than 4 tickets for one way. After booking and paying for tickets, passengers must go to the station to get tickets at least 30 minutes before departure. It is expected that by the end of 2015, when the next phases of the project are completed, passengers will be able to print electronic tickets at home.
To ensure that all passengers are served, Vietnam Railways Corporation organizes the simultaneous sale of electronic tickets and a number of other traditional ticket sales channels such as sales at stations and sales by phone. In addition, Vietnam Railways Corporation has just signed a contract with the General Post Office with over 6,000 ticket sales points nationwide, passengers only need to go to post offices or bank branches to buy tickets. Passengers within a 7 km radius in the two major cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City are served with free home ticket delivery.
Evaluating this new form of ticket sales, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Hong Truong affirmed that the introduction of the electronic ticket sales system is a great effort of Vietnam Railways in improving service quality, bringing convenience to passengers, completely solving pressing problems when buying train tickets during peak holidays and Tet, ending the situation of jostling and pushing when having to queue for hours to buy tickets, ending the situation where ticket buyers have to pay double or triple the real value of the ticket...
Comrade Tran Ngoc Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Railways Corporation, said that from 8:00 a.m. on December 1, Thong Nhat train tickets for the 2015 Lunar New Year will be sold at a price 10-17% lower than the 2014 Lunar New Year ticket price under the direction of Minister Dinh La Thang and a 50% reduction on less crowded routes like previous years.
Vietnam Railways recommends that during peak times, passengers should come to the station to receive tickets early to avoid gathering to receive tickets close to the train's departure time, resulting in not having enough time to check in.
Vietnam Railways also said that from December 1 to December 5, 2014, Saigon and Bien Hoa stations will only sell tickets to serve passengers who are Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, war invalids, and meritorious people traveling by train during peak times, passengers who buy tickets to travel by train during off-peak times, and passengers who have successfully booked tickets on the website, paid for their tickets, and come to the station to pick up their tickets. After December 5, Saigon and Bien Hoa stations will serve all passengers as usual./.
