Prison sentences reduced for 63 prisoners during Tet

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of January 28, Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center announced the decision to reduce the prison sentence for the 2014 Lunar New Year.

Of the 63 prisoners whose prison sentences were reduced this time, 28 prisoners had their entire prison sentences reduced so they could return home for Tet, while the rest had their sentences reduced by 1 to 7 months. These are prisoners who have seen their mistakes, are determined to improve themselves, show sincere repentance, actively work and study, have made a lot of progress, strictly follow the prison regulations, and are classified as fair or good.

At the decision announcement ceremony, the leaders of the Provincial Police Detention Center advised the prisoners whose sentences were reduced before the end of their terms to work honestly and become useful people to society when they return to their localities and families; at the same time, they hoped that the prisoners whose sentences were not reduced in this period would continue to reform well to soon enjoy the leniency policy of the Party and State in the next sentence reduction consideration.

This sentence reduction is a condition and opportunity for prisoners to reunite with their families on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2014, reintegrate into the community, and live a useful life for their families and society; at the same time, it is also a motivation for other prisoners to actively work, study, and reform well to enjoy the lenient policies of the Party and the State during their reformation in prisons.
