Reduce import tax on gasoline

February 21, 2012 18:21

From today (February 21), the Ministry of Finance allows import tax exemption for gasoline; diesel oil is reduced from 5% to 3%.

On February 21, the Ministry of Finance issued Circular No. 25/2012/TT-BTC guiding the implementation of preferential import tax rates for items in group 2710 in the Preferential Import Tariff.

Accordingly, some items such as RON 97 and higher, leaded and unleaded; RON 90 and higher, but below RON 97, leaded and unleaded; aviation gasoline, except for that used as jet fuel; white solvents; aircraft engine fuel with a flash point of 23 or moreoC and above and under 23oC… has an import tax rate reduced from 4% to 0%.

Kerosene, diesel fuel for cars, and other diesel fuels have import tax rates reduced from 5% to 3%.

This Circular takes effect from February 21, 2012.

Up to now, after nearly 2 months of applying the 4-5% rate on petroleum products, the Ministry of Finance has once again had to adjust the tax due to the pressure of increasing prices in the world market, while still having to ensure the requirement of stabilizing domestic retail sales to prevent inflation and reduce losses for petroleum businesses./.
