Discount from 5 to 17% on Thong Nhat train sleeper tickets

On the afternoon of July 5, Mr. Thai Van Truyen, Deputy Head of Saigon Station, said that in order to attract passengers, Vietnam Railways Corporation will adjust the ticket prices for the Thong Nhat passenger train in the summer of 2014. Specifically, from 0:00 on July 5 to the end of September 3, the price of sleeper tickets for the Thong Nhat train will be adjusted with a reduction of 5% to 17% compared to the current ticket prices.

Mr. Truyen also said that the time used as the basis for selling tickets is the time the train runs at the stations listed on the passenger's ticket. Vietnam Railways Corporation will not refund the difference to passengers who purchased tickets before the implementation of this document.

Saigon Railway Station also informed that when passengers buy tickets many days in advance, the discount is 30% of the prescribed ticket price on all passenger trains running from August 5 to August 28. The conditions for application are tickets purchased 30 days in advance or more; tickets with a travel distance of 1,300 km or more. This ticket price only applies to passengers buying individual tickets, not to passengers buying group tickets and companies (units) that have signed contracts to rent cars and trains and pay the full fare.

For passengers who buy tickets many days in advance, when returning or exchanging tickets, they will be subject to a 50% deduction of the ticket price printed on the ticket. Saigon Railway Station notes that passengers who buy tickets many days in advance will not be subject to the return or exchange fee according to current regulations of Vietnam Railways Corporation.

Also on this occasion, to serve the construction of elevated platforms at Saigon Station, Saigon Railway Transport Company decided to cancel the PT3/PT4 trains from July 8 until further notice. Accordingly, for tickets already sold to passengers traveling from Saigon Station, passengers with PT4 tickets without motorbikes will be transferred to the SQN2 train departing at 7:25 p.m. the same day from Saigon Station to Binh Thuan Station. At Binh Thuan Station, there will be cars picking up passengers from Binh Thuan Station to Phan Thiet Station.

In addition, passengers with PT4 train tickets and motorbikes will have their train and motorbike tickets refunded (full price). If passengers want to take the train, Saigon station will prioritize selling SPT2 train tickets to Saigon at 6:50 am the next day (including buying motorbike luggage tickets).

As for tickets sold to passengers traveling from Phan Thiet station, passengers with PT3 train tickets will be refunded (full price). If passengers with PT3 train tickets without motorbikes want to travel by train, Phan Thiet station will arrange a car to take passengers to Binh Thuan station to take TN1 train from Binh Thuan station to Saigon station.

For passengers traveling by PT3 with a motorbike, if they need to travel by train, Phan Thiet station will prioritize selling tickets for SPT1 train to Phan Thiet at 13:10 the next day (including buying motorbike luggage tickets). Saigon station also notes that if the passenger changes seats, they will not be charged a difference.
