(Baonghean.vn) - This slope is part of the most difficult and arduous route in the West and is called "10 million slope" originating from a fun challenge from teachers in Muong Tip, Muong Ai (Ky Son).
Ky Son is known as a particularly difficult highland border district of the province, with over 95% of the natural land being hills and mountains with steep slopes, making transportation extremely difficult. In particular, the route from the center of Muong Xen town to the communes of Ta Ca, Muong Tip, Muong Ai ... is the most difficult and arduous route for people and vehicles to travel through here. |
This is a slope in Pung village, Muong Ai commune, Ky Son district. Due to its steep, dangerous, slippery slope, especially on rainy days, this section is almost a "dead road" where vehicles cannot pass through. |
The slope is about 300m long, but it is the most difficult part of the road from the center of Muong Ai commune to Pung village. Teachers at primary and preschool schools in Muong Tip and Muong Ai once offered a "prize": Anyone who can pass this slope on a rainy day will be given 10 million VND by the staff and teachers of the above schools. |
Not only on rainy days, on sunny days, traveling on this route is not simple. |
Every day, this route has nearly 100 teachers and staff from 4 schools: Muong Tip 1 Primary School, Muong Tip Kindergarten, Muong Ai Primary School, and Muong Ai Commune Kindergarten along with hundreds of people and vehicles. |
To overcome this 300m slippery road, people had to help each other push each vehicle over the slope. |
Not only motorbikes, but also cars that come to buy agricultural products from people cannot go over the slope when it rains. |

To avoid accidents and uncertainties for people and vehicles participating in traffic, the people of Pung village regularly repair, level and clear mud, however, such repairs are only a temporary solution. In the long term, it is necessary for functional sectors and authorities at all levels to soon repair and asphalt the road to facilitate the circulation, exchange of goods and travel of officials and people in border communes. |
