Overview of the meeting |
Que Phong and Thuong Xuan are two mountainous districts sharing a common administrative boundary of over 62km, with two communes of Dong Van Thong Thu bordering five communes: Bat Mot, Yen Nhan, Xuan Le, Xuan Chinh and Van Xuan.
In recent years, the authorities of the two districts and related functional agencies have made great efforts, coordinated effectively in managing, protecting, and preventing forest fires, organized patrols, and raids, and there are no longer hot spots and logging hotspots like before.
However, recently, due to favorable traffic conditions between the two districts, both by road and by water, the border area is far from the residential area, of the two communes under the management of Que Phong district, but close to the villages of Thuong Xuan district. The Hon Tang and Hon Tuc points in sub-regions 16, 26, 37, 38, 40, 52, 56 2, 6, 8, 13 of Dong Van and Thong Thu communes are also rich in timber reserves, medicinal herbs, biodiversity and rare flora and fauna, often targeted by bad guys, exploited and transported forest products to Thanh Hoa for consumption, these characteristics cause difficulties for forest management and protection.
To effectively implement forest protection management in 2015, Mr. Le Cao Binh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development - Head of the Nghe An Forest Protection Department also requested the authorities of the two districts to continue to advise the two provinces in general, and at the same time strengthen leadership and direction from the district to the commune, coordinate to fight, prevent and strictly handle cases of illegal exploitation, transportation and trading of forest products from Nghe An to Thanh Hoa, and vice versa, and issues related to population management and forest fire prevention between the two districts of Que Phong and Thuong Xuan of Thanh Hoa province.
