(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 22, a conference and discussion on foreign affairs in the Central Highlands provinces took place in Vinh city. Attending the conference were comrades: Ho Xuan Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs - Chairman of the National Border Committee, Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee; representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Dak Nong provinces and the host unit Nghe An.

This is the 5th time the Central Highlands - Central Region provinces' meeting has been held. At this conference, delegates from the provinces discussed and discussed to clarify the role of the Department of Foreign Affairs in the process of economic development, foreign security of the locality, and exchanged experiences in the fields of: diplomacy, economics, NGO mobilization, foreign affairs management, cultural diplomacy, organization of foreign affairs events, etc.

Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the Central - Central Highlands region has a strategic geographical - political - economic position. All localities have land borders with Laos and part of Cambodia. Especially in the context that this region has been forming comprehensive industrial centers, with deep-water seaports, international airports and a diverse transportation system. This is an extremely favorable condition for socio-economic development but at the same time poses an important task in foreign affairs and border security. Therefore, the connection between the Central - Central Highlands provinces is an endogenous need, creating advantages to attract domestic and international investment, effectively serving the economic - cultural - social - defense - security growth of each locality.

Particularly for Nghe An province, in recent times, the Department of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with other departments, sectors and branches to promote investment promotion activities to mobilize FDI, ODA and NGO capital sources. Accordingly, in 2013, Nghe An attracted more than 21 million USD of FDI capital; 36 ODA Programs and Projects with a total investment of 15,266 billion VND, reaching 9,691 billion VND in the first 6 months of 2014; attracting non-governmental NGO capital was 6.622 million USD, reaching 1.921 million USD in the first 6 months of 2014.

Also at this Conference, many presentations by delegates from localities in the region showed the role of foreign affairs and foreign affairs in accompanying and supporting businesses in international integration, promoting, mobilizing and managing aid sources from non-governmental organizations; promoting and promoting economic and cultural activities in the East-West economic corridor...

Speaking at the Conference, Comrade Ho Xuan Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Border Committee highly appreciated the coordination in foreign affairs between the Central Highlands and Central provinces. According to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, this is an important premise to promote the socio-economic development of each locality in the trend of international integration. Each locality, in the spirit of the Party and State's diplomatic policy, needs to constantly enhance its initiative in promoting international cooperation, promoting free trade and protecting border security. Thereby contributing to the good implementation of the country's political and foreign affairs tasks. Through the Conference, Comrade Ho Xuan Son also provided some information on diplomatic work between Vietnam and neighboring countries in the region. In particular, he clarified the viewpoints, policies and foreign policy stance between Vietnam and China, especially after the Beijing government illegally placed the Haiyang 981 drilling rig in our country's continental shelf and exclusive economic zone.
