Quynh Luu parishioners join hands to build new rural areas

(Baonghean) - Thuan Giang parish, Quynh Hung commune (Quynh Luu) has nearly 600 households with 3,200 people, of which 1/3 of the households participate in the production of fine art civil woodwork, attracting nearly 50% of the labor force with an average income of 4 - 6 million VND/person/month.

To develop the craft village economy in association with the national target program of new rural construction, Quynh Hung commune has planned to expand and upgrade the road to the craft village with a length of more than 600m, costing nearly 600 million VND, of which, 20% of the contribution from parishioners is mobilized. Upon receiving the local plan, the Pastoral Council of Thuan Giang Parish coordinated with the Village Executive Committee to organize a meeting with the people to thoroughly understand the purpose and requirements, and to propagate and mobilize parishioners to comply with the contribution of money and labor to soon build the craft village road.

After the Pastoral Council of Thuan Giang Parish informed the parishioners about the benefits of the new rural construction program, they were very supportive. Not only contributing money and labor, some parishioners also voluntarily signed a commitment to voluntarily donate land, dismantle surrounding walls, and solid structures to widen the road without requiring compensation from the State. Mr. Bui Van Minh, the pioneer in the movement to donate land to open the road, excitedly said: "The road to Thuan Giang craft village will go through my garden about 25m. According to the policy of building new rural areas, I am ready to immediately dismantle the surrounding walls to make the road wider, convenient for trading goods in the craft village."

Quynh Luu district currently has 13 parishes and 35 sub-parishes with more than 8,500 households of parishioners, living in 59/538 residential areas in 20 communes and towns of the district. Implementing the new rural construction program, not only Thuan Giang parish but also many parishes and sub-parishes in Quynh Luu district are mobilizing parishioners to compete in economic development, actively contributing money and labor to build many welfare works, implementing the new rural construction program. Parishioners have contributed to building 58.3 km of concrete roads and canals; built 36 cultural houses; 34/59 villages have 100% asphalt and concrete roads. Typically, 79 families in Thuong Nguyen, Trung Nguyen, Di Le parishes, Son Trang, Yen Hoa, Thanh Da, Cam Truong parishes have donated 1,275 m2 of land to build roads. Many households voluntarily dismantled surrounding walls and solid structures to widen the road without requiring compensation from the State.

Mr. Ho Sy Hai, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Quynh Luu district, said: "In the near future, the Fatherland Front Committee of the district will coordinate with organizations to continue to mobilize parishioners to convert land, contribute to building infrastructure, build a green, clean, and beautiful environment; mobilize people to build a life of solidarity, live a good life, and practice religion."
