International Friendly, Qatar – Vietnam: A Tough Test
Today, the Vietnam team will play a friendly match with the host Qatar team to prepare for the next round of the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers, where the Vietnam team lost the first two matches and must win all four remaining matches to have any hope of qualifying for the finals. Departing from Hanoi on the afternoon of October 7, after a 6-hour journey, the Vietnam team arrived in Doha (Qatar) that evening.
Yesterday afternoon, coach Nguyen Van Sy and his team had a practice session to get acquainted with Al Sadd Stadium. Information from the Vietnam National Team's coaching staff reported that at present the climate in Doha is relatively pleasant and the time difference is not too big, so the players do not have much difficulty adapting to the new environment.
This is a match that is predicted to be very difficult for the Vietnam National Team, because coach Nguyen Van Sy does not have some key players such as Tan Tai, Van Phong, Hong Son, and the number one striker Cong Vinh will only be returned by his current club, Consadole Sapporo, for the official match in the 2015 Asian Cup qualifiers against Uzbekistan.
Before leaving for Doha, due to difficulties in personnel and weather, the Vietnam team did not have the best training conditions. However, coach Nguyen Van Sy and his players still put the highest determination into this tour.
After the match against Qatar, the Vietnamese team will stay in Doha for 2 more days to continue training. On October 12, the whole team will move to Uzbekistan to prepare for the match against Uzbekistan. Striker Cong Vinh will fly from Japan to Uzbekistan to join the Vietnamese team on October 13.
