On the evening of July 24, in Nghe An - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, Nghe An province, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam organized a friendship exchange to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the attack on Moncada fortress, which started the Cuban revolutionary movement, also known as the Cuban National Uprising Day, one of the two most important holidays of the Cuban people.

On the evening of July 24, in Nghe An - the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh, Nghe An province, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association and the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam organized a friendship exchange to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the attack on Moncada fortress, which started the Cuban revolutionary movement, also known as the Cuban National Uprising Day, one of the two most important holidays of the Cuban people.

Speaking at the meeting, leaders of Nghe An province and representatives of the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam affirmed the pure, loyal traditional friendship and good relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, the two countries always stand side by side in the cause of national construction and defense.

Today, the Vietnam-Cuba cooperation relationship is expanding in many fields, such as: construction, trade, investment, culture, education, science and technology; in which, Vietnam transfers technology and breeds to help Cuba cultivate rice, raise pearls, maintain the volume of rice and goods to the Cuban market; Cuba continues to help Vietnam in sugarcane technology, processing sugarcane by-products, raising crocodiles, consulting on construction and supervision of sports complexes, and Ho Chi Minh road.

At the meeting, Vietnamese and Cuban friends reviewed the attack on Moncada Fortress. 59 years ago, under the leadership of young lawyer Fidel Castro, a group of about 100 patriotic Cuban youths opened fire on Moncada Fortress. This was the opening shot of the Cuban revolution to overthrow the dictatorship of Fulgencio Bastita and gain freedom for the country.

The Moncada Platform, which clearly outlined the path of struggle, became a national, democratic and progressive flag, encouraging the Cuban people to rise up and join the revolution. On January 1, 1959, the Cuban Revolution succeeded, opening a new era for Cuba - an era of independence, freedom and socialism.

On this occasion, a delegation of diplomatic staff from the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association also came to offer flowers at Ho Chi Minh Square in Vinh city; offer incense, flowers and visit the Kim Lien relic site, the hometown of President Ho Chi Minh in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An./.
