Trade between Vietnam and Brazil hits record high

Trade between Vietnam and Brazil as of the end of October exceeded last year's turnover, reaching over 2 billion 557 million USD.

According to preliminary statistics from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, trade between the two countries in the first 10 months of this year increased by 35.8% compared to the same period last year, with the trade surplus belonging to Vietnam.

From January to October, Vietnam exported goods worth 1.288 billion USD to Latin America's largest economy and imported 1.269 billion USD, up 33.5% and 38.2% respectively.

Vietnam supplies Brazil mainly with phones and accessories, footwear, frozen fish fillets, synthetic fibers and electronic products, and imports from this South American country mainly corn kernels, soybeans and by-products obtained from the soybean oil extraction process, cotton, leather and footwear materials, tobacco materials, wood pulp, chicken by-products, iron and steel scrap, meat meal, etc.

Brazil is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Latin America. Except for 2010, since 2002 Brazil has always had a trade surplus with Vietnam.

Trade between the two countries increased sharply while Brazil's foreign trade in the first 10 months of the year decreased by more than 4% compared to the same period in 2013, down to 385 billion 801 million USD.

Last year, trade between Vietnam and Brazil reached 2 billion 333.4 million USD. This is the first year that trade between the two countries has exceeded the 2 billion USD threshold.
