Teacher suspended for replacing yearbook photo with President Trump's name

The yearbook photos of two high school students in New Jersey were replaced with the name of US President Donald Trump on their clothes.

A school in New Jersey (USA) has suspended a teacher after yearbook photos of two students at the school were changed to remove the name of US President Donald Trump from their clothes.

In the altered photo, one student was wearing a shirt with President Donald Trump’s name on it, while the other student was wearing a “Trump Makes America Great Again” T-shirt. However, neither photo appeared in the school’s yearbook.

Wall Township (New Jersey) Superintendent Cheryl Dyer told local news channel News 12 on June 12 that the yearbook adviser has been suspended while the school continues to investigate the incident. Details of the suspension and investigation are unclear, and Dyer has not commented further.

It is also unclear who replaced the yearbook photo or why. A spokesperson for Jostens, the company that takes and prints the yearbook photos for the school, did not respond to any questions or comment.

The only reason a student's image is changed is if it violates the district's dress code, such as clothing that references drugs, alcohol or violence, Ms. Dyer said.

The district is also investigating why a quote from Mr. Trump did not appear in the incoming class's photo while a quote from President Franklin Delano Roosevelt did.

Joseph Berardo Jr., the father of one of the two students whose photo was replaced, has called on the school to republish the yearbook at district expense, including the original photos. He said the issue would be just as serious if the replaced photo showed support for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton./.
