This morning, heavy rains occurred throughout Thanh Chuong district, so the plan to pick up students at school gates was interrupted. However, to ensure health safety, temperature checks and requiring students to disinfect their hands were still strictly implemented. Leaders of the Department of Education and Training went to a number of schools to check students' attendance on the first day of school. Photo: MH |

At this time, Thanh Chuong is one of the first districts to synchronously implement direct teaching at all three levels. For 8th grade students - Ton Quang Phiet Secondary School, the first lesson after the summer vacation was the work "I go to school" by writer Thanh Tinh. In the current context, when many localities in the province have to study online under many difficult conditions, we can see that going to school and going to school safely is a particularly meaningful thing. On the first day, schools also required students and parents to write a commitment to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic with many contents. Among them, it is necessary to strictly implement "one route, two destinations", ensuring that students can only move from home to school and vice versa, and cannot move to other locations. For primary school, being able to go to school to teach directly has created great convenience for many parents and teachers. Therefore, on the first day of school, all classes at Vo Liet Primary School ensured 100% attendance. Photo: MH |

At this time, due to the epidemic prevention, classes are arranged in two shifts: morning and afternoon. In which, the morning is for students in grades 3, 4, 5 and 8, 9. The afternoon is for students in grades 1, 2, 6, 7. Schools also determined that going to school at this time is lucky and taking advantage of the "golden time", schools focus on core, basic lessons. As for primary school, for now, at school, students only study 3 subjects: Math, Vietnamese and Foreign Language. For the remaining subjects and advanced exercises, teachers will continue to support them in the evening through online teaching. Photo: MH |

After a long break and being affected by the epidemic, the joy of teachers is not only to meet their students, to stand on the podium but also to see the progress and self-study awareness of their students. In the first lesson, all students wrote carefully on each page of their notebooks. Photo: MH |

To strictly implement social distancing, classes are arranged alternately. This school year, Thanh Chuong district welcomed more than 130 students from the southern provinces. However, the whole district still has 259 students stuck in epidemic areas and the district will have a support plan for them as soon as they return to their hometown. Photo: MH |

Due to its own characteristics, in Thanh Chuong district, there are more than 60 teachers living in epidemic areas and are having to practice social distancing according to Directive 16. To ensure enough teachers, teachers will stay at school in the form of "3 on-site". At Thanh Giang Secondary School, there are currently 10/21 teachers in this category. Among them, there are cases such as teacher Tran Van Chung (light blue shirt, sitting), both husband and wife have to stay at school because his family is living in Nam Dan district - a locality that is implementing Directive 16. Teacher Nguyen Thi Viet is a Literature teacher and currently lives in Nam Giang commune (Nam Dan district). For nearly 20 years in the profession, she travels back and forth nearly 60 kilometers every day. At this time, because she has to implement "3 on-site", she has to take her 4-year-old child to school with her mother. Because her husband is working in the South, at home, her two children have to rely on her in-laws (over 80 years old) to take care of them. During the days living away from her family, she said there were many "hardships and difficulties", but in order to prevent the epidemic and ensure the safety of herself, her family and her students, she has received support and sharing from all family members. The "3 on-site" training days are also a meaningful experience for teachers. This is also an opportunity for teachers to sympathize, share and join hands to overcome difficulties to successfully complete the tasks of the school year - a special school year in the midst of the complicated and unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 epidemic.
