(Baonghean.vn) - This is the content that the 14th session of the 18th Provincial People's Council set out for the teaching staff in the content of questioning the leaders of the Department of Education and Training.

Equipping students with defense skills against school violence
On the third working day of the 14th session, the 18th Provincial People's Council continued to question the Director of the Department of Education and Training, Thai Van Thanh, regarding the current situation, causes and solutions to prevent school violence; life skills education for students; prevention of accidents, injuries, drowning; protection, care and education of children in special circumstances... In which it clarified the goals and requirements of education as comprehensive development for students and the responsibilities from many sides: schools, communities, families and the students themselves.
Six delegates of the Provincial People's Council directly questioned the Director of the Department of Education and Training. Delegate Trinh Van Nha (Thanh Chuong district) pointed out the reality of school violence occurring at all ages, grades and genders; causing insecurity and fear for students and anxiety for parents.

Delegate Trinh Van Nha also asked the Director of the Department of Education and Training: What knowledge and skills do students need to be provided to prevent school violence? When they become victims of school violence, what do students and their parents need to do to escape school violence?
Responding to this content, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh emphasized that the main preventive solution is to pay attention to education, equipping students with life skills, life values, and global skills. Including IT skills, foreign language skills, communication skills, teamwork; skills to handle situations; skills to manage personal emotions; skills to defend against impacts that can cause violence to students...
Expressing agreement with the content of delegate Trinh Van Nha and acknowledging that there are individual cases where after being subjected to school violence, they feel anxious and afraid to go to school; the Director of the Department of Education and Training informed that currently, all schools have established a systematic process for handling students who are subjected to school violence with a coordinated relationship between the school board, homeroom teachers, parents and students to grasp the physical, psychological and behavioral impacts to provide advice and create peace of mind; at the same time, coordinate with medical facilities so that psychologists can provide advice to students who are severely psychologically affected. At the same time, homeroom teachers and youth organizations and associations in schools should be closely involved, close to and accompany students during their school days.

Lack of professional school psychology consultants
Referring to Decree No. 80 of the Government clearly stipulating the requirements and contents to be implemented to ensure a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment, preventing and combating school violence; delegate Phan Thi Minh Ly (Yen Thanh district) pointed out that the implementation in schools in Nghe An still has many shortcomings, and at the same time asked the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Nghe An what is the solution to this problem in the coming time?
Responding to the content raised by delegate Phan Thi Minh Ly, Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh admitted that schools have developed plans in accordance with the goals, content and solutions set forth in Decree 80 of the Government; and have established school advisory groups.

However, in the current context of streamlining the payroll, there is no specialized team to do this task, but it is the homeroom teacher, secretary or deputy secretary of the Youth Union, and vice principal of the school who concurrently holds the position. In the condition of both performing professional activities and taking on additional school psychology tasks, while the number of students in each school is large, with some schools having 1,500 - 2,000 students; this has not yet met the expectations of schools, parents, and students.
Regarding solutions, in the coming time, the industry will focus on integrating school counseling and social work models into one model to ensure effective operation, contributing to the development of proper qualities and personalities, meeting the requirements of human resources in the current period.

Paying attention to the models of counseling and supporting students in schools, including school counseling teams; delegate Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa (Dien Chau district) asked about solutions to ensure these models operate effectively and substantially, contributing to preventing school violence?
Regarding this issue, delegate Thai Van Thanh said that the industry will direct schools to increase coordination and connection with doctors and psychologists to work with schools in this activity, because if only homeroom teachers and some other departments in the school do not have experience and specialized expertise in counseling, it will not be effective, especially when students have psychological crises that exceed the knowledge of teachers.

Director of the Department of Education and Training Thai Van Thanh also answered questions from delegates Que Thi Tram Ngoc (Quy Chau district) regarding the effectiveness of implementing the life skills education model for students across the province; delegate Vi Van Quy (Quy Hop district) on history and civic education in schools; delegate Luc Thi Lien (Con Cuong district) on strengthening education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyle and arousing aspirations for dedication in youth, teenagers and children according to Decision No. 1895 of the Prime Minister.
Promote the responsibility of the entire political system
At the end of the questioning session of the Provincial People's Council delegates to the Director of the Department of Education and Training, Comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, assessed that the questioning spirit of the Provincial People's Council delegates was enthusiastic, raising questions that were accurate, focused on the scope and content of the questioning. The Director of the Department of Education and Training had a firm grasp of the field in charge and answered questions fully and frankly.
Based on the results of the questioning, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council emphasized: School violence; life skills, accident and injury prevention, care and protection of children in special circumstances; these are 4 major and difficult social issues, because the subjects involved are students, children who are changing very quickly physically, psychologically, easily agitated, vulnerable...
According to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, the responsibility to take care of the above 4 issues is very broad: from the family - grandparents, parents, relatives, siblings; to the school (teachers, organizations in the school that tutor, orient, educate); to the social community (villages, agencies, units, departments); to the students themselves.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council also emphasized a number of tasks that need attention in order to solve the four issues raised. The focus is on raising awareness, thereby transforming into action for all classes of people to solve the issues raised at the meeting; including raising awareness for parents and teachers - teachers, in addition to doing well in teaching, need to be tolerant, profound and comprehensive enough to grasp the psychology and support students in a timely manner. Determine that the entire political system must get involved for the future of our children, not "outsource" it to schools and the education and training sector.
Focus on directing the building of a safe, healthy, friendly educational environment, preventing school violence, and developing specific scenarios to promptly resolve and handle problems and situations that arise. In particular, focus on educating revolutionary ideals, ethics, lifestyles, and arousing the desire to contribute to youth, teenagers, and children. Must be done for real, not only in schools, but grandparents and parents must set an example and the community and villages must pay attention to creating an environment to educate children. Must detect early and provide timely advice, not allowing physical and mental conflicts to occur for children. Must strengthen coordination to ensure school safety and security in schools so that students and teachers can teach and learn with peace of mind. Pay attention to educating life skills, especially emotional management skills, behavioral skills and conflict resolution skills, network usage skills and handling situations on social networks.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested that all levels, sectors and localities need to closely coordinate with each family in the work of preventing drowning for children with the motto "going to every alley, knocking on every door"./.
