Handing the car over to the assistant to drive, the driver faces up to 12 years in prison

On August 29, the Dak Nong Provincial People's Procuracy announced that it had just approved the decision to prosecute Huynh The Hien (residing in Bu Dang district, Binh Phuoc) for the crime of "Allowing an unqualified person to drive a road vehicle" (according to Clause 3, Article 205 of the Penal Code).

According to records, on the morning of May 2, a 30-seat passenger van with license plate number 53S-8992 driven by driver Huynh The Hien and assistant driver Nguyen Van Dung left Mien Dong bus station (HCMC) to Buon Ma Thuot city.

When the car reached Gia Nghia town, driver Hien arbitrarily handed the car over to assistant Dung to drive. At that time, assistant Dung only had a class C driver's license, not qualified to drive a 30-seat passenger car.

The car reached Km 748+850, National Highway 14 (in Bac Son village, Dak Gan commune, Dak Mil district), the assistant driver Dung, due to not being able to control the speed and completely encroaching on the opposite lane, crashed head-on into a truck driving in the opposite direction.

The accident killed the bus conductor Dung and two other people on the bus, and injured 12 others. Both vehicles were severely damaged.
