Aluminum

The use of aluminum cookware has been linked to Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases. Uncoated aluminum cookware can easily leach metals into certain foods—including acidic and alkaline foods.

Although aluminum cookware is generally considered relatively safe and resistant to metal leaching, consumers should still avoid using unglazed aluminum.

Perfluorooctanoic acid

Perfluorooctanoic acid, found in some nonstick pans, has been linked to infertility, poor academic performance, and weight gain. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified it as possibly carcinogenic to humans. So instead of cooking with nonstick pans, cook with traditional pans or opt for cast iron, glass, or stainless steel.

Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A is found in some water bottles, plastic containers… Bisphenol A causes cancer, brain damage, cardiovascular disease and even infertility. So avoid using plastic containers containing acidic foods and salty foods.

Consumers are advised to use glass food containers if possible or at least make sure that plastic food containers in the kitchen are labeled “BPA Free.”

Polyethylene terephthalate

Polyethylene terephthalate is found in food containers. This chemical can seep into your body through the foods you eat and has been linked to metabolic syndrome, a condition associated with increased levels of inflammation.

Bromine flame retardants

Brominated flame retardants are found in plastic cutlery and cooking utensils. This can cause serious problems for pregnant women, according to a study, as their babies are at risk of being born underweight.

Polyfluorin chemicals

This chemical is found in fast food packaging, bags, and boxes. Fast food chains still use food packaging and bags coated with chemicals that contain very high levels of fluoride. This chemical has been linked to cancer, developmental problems, reproductive problems, and lower immunity.

Teflon

Teflon, a non-stick coating, is commonly used in the production of frying pans, grills, and many other kitchen utensils. Teflon contains a large amount of toxic chemicals, including some carcinogens. Studies have shown that Teflon has been shown to release at least six toxic gases when heated, some of which are carcinogenic. Instead, housewives can use cast iron pots and pans, which both ensure non-stick properties and do not pose many potential health risks.

Phthalate

Phthalates, found in cheap plastic water bottles and straws, are a group of chemicals used in food packaging and processed ingredients. These chemicals are known to disrupt hormones in humans, cause birth defects in boys, and cause behavioral problems and obesity in older children and adults. They have also been linked to childhood obesity, asthma, neurological diseases, cardiovascular problems, and even cancer.
