Terrifying moments of passengers on a tourist bus that crashed in Nghe An

Tourist bus accident in Nghe An, car owner killed, 14 injured

(Baonghean.vn) - While traveling on National Highway 1A through Dien Chau district (Nghe An), a passenger bus suddenly crashed into the back of a container truck pulling a trailer that was parked on the side of the road. The strong crash caused 15 casualties on the bus.

The group of tourists consisted mainly of people who knew each other, some were family members and there were also children. The accident happened at around 5am on 6th July, when most of the passengers were sleeping, only a few were awake.

“My mother and I were half asleep when we heard a loud crash. I opened my eyes and felt my legs numb and painful. I looked down and saw that my legs were stuck in the refrigerator. Looking around, I saw people lying everywhere, many of them screaming and panicking because of the pain,” Thao recalled.

After a few minutes of regaining his composure, Thao tried to free his leg but failed. Some people suffered minor injuries, then some locals got in the car to rescue the trapped injured people, taking them to the emergency room. “We planned to go on a 2-day trip and then return home, but now we have to stay here in the hospital. They said my leg was injured in the bone, so I had to put it in a cast and stay in the hospital for a few days,” Thao added.

Sitting on the hospital bed waiting for the doctor to treat his wound, passenger Nham (42 years old, residing in Viet Yen, Bac Giang) sadly said that at the time of the accident, he was half asleep and did not know what happened. Only when he heard a loud bang did he wake up and saw many people around him screaming and panicking. Looking down, Nham realized that he had a serious injury to his leg.

"There were many children traveling with their parents on the bus. Luckily, none of the children were seriously injured. Thinking back to when I woke up and heard everyone screaming, I'm still scared," Nham added.

Some people said that at the time of the accident, the passenger bus was avoiding a 4-seater car and crashed into a container truck parked on the side of the road.

After the accident, the victims were taken to Phu Hau General Clinic in Dien Chau for first aid and the seriously injured were transferred to Nghe An General Hospital 115 for emergency treatment.

Mr. Pham Van Long - Deputy Director of Nghe An General Hospital 115 said: On the morning of July 6, the hospital received and treated 14 passengers in the serious accident. Among the 14 people brought to the hospital, there was one seriously injured person in critical condition, passenger Nguyen Van Tu, who suffered a cervical spine injury.

In addition, some passengers suffered traumatic brain injury and multiple injuries to the head, arms, legs, chest, and abdomen.

“We are currently examining and taking X-rays of patients to provide emergency care and treatment. Some seriously ill patients will be transferred to the emergency department for further treatment of their injuries,” said Mr. Long.

Previously, as reported by Nghe An Newspaper, at around 5:00 a.m. on July 6, a passenger bus with license plate 29B-19103 (driver's identity unknown) was traveling on National Highway 1A in the direction of Hanoi - Vinh; when reaching the section passing through Dien Chau district, it suddenly crashed into the back of a container truck with license plate 76C-04542 pulling a trailer with license plate 76R-00289 driven by Nguyen Hong Luan (born in 1982, residing in Nghia Ky commune, Tu Nghia district, Quang Ngai) that was parked on the side of the road.

The strong crash completely deformed the front of the bus, many people on the bus were panicking and screaming. It is known that at the time of the accident, the bus was carrying a group of 50 people from Bac Giang to Nghe An for tourism.
