(Baonghean.vn) -30 volunteers of the SVTN Team of Vinh University, Nghe An, fulfilled their wish to sow Vietnamese letters in the land of Xieng Khouang - Laos.

To celebrate the anniversary of “Vietnam - Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year 2012”, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 - September 5, 2012), in the 2012 summer volunteer campaign, Vinh University Volunteer Team had many practical activities in Xieng Khouang.

The volunteer team has 30 volunteers, including 4 staff, 18 students and 8 Laotian students studying at Vinh University. The main task of this volunteer trip is to teach Vietnamese to staff, teachers and students; at the same time, to enhance cultural and artistic exchange activities so that they can interact with Lao friends and learn more about Vietnamese - Lao culture, in order to foster and develop the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos in the new situation and conditions, especially the young generation in the two countries. In addition, it is necessary to do a good job of introducing and consulting Laotian students who wish to register to study at Vinh University.

Overcoming a journey of more than 400 kilometers, the Team arrived in Xieng Khouang Province, Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a very warm and affectionate welcome from the Xieng Khouang Provincial Youth Union and Lao students studying abroad. Everyone joined in the melody of the song Tinh Viet - Laos and the bustling, rhythmic Lam Vong dance - a traditional dance of the brotherly country of Laos.

In Xieng Khouang, the SVTN Team received 15 classes with nearly 600 students, including 3 classes of cadres, 1 class of teachers and 11 classes of students from primary to high school. With a large number of students, of different ages, occupations, and from many different regions and tribes, the volunteers were always aware of their heavy responsibility and made efforts to complete their tasks. With the care and support from the Xieng Khouang Provincial Youth Union and Phon Xa Van High School, the Team gradually overcame the initial confusion. The classes that were quiet during the summer suddenly became bustling with reading and singing lessons during Vietnamese lessons.

In addition to class time, the volunteers also practice singing traditional Vietnamese songs for the students. The lyrics and melodies of familiar songs: "Vietnam, my homeland", "Like having Uncle Ho in the great victory day"... resound in the land of Xieng Khouang. The bright smiles after each class erase the language gap between people. The image of volunteers in green shirts carefully instructing and correcting each stroke of the Lao students has become familiar to the people here. After each class is the time when the team members gather together, everyone considers each other as brothers and sisters. It is these feelings that have eased homesickness as well as helped the members overcome difficulties. Currently, the team is facing some difficulties because the Lao students have returned to Vietnam.Maleto study summer at school (Vinh University), so there is no longer a team of interpreters in the classes. Therefore, in teaching, all Vietnamese volunteers have to stand in class by themselves and apply and promote all their knowledge, expertise, and confidence to be able to convey knowledge to students in the most effective way.

In just one week, the Vinh University Volunteer Team operating in Xieng Khouang Province will end its mission. There are lands that each of us has passed through and cannot remember the names, but there are places where "When we are here, it is just a place to live - When we leave, the land suddenly becomes our soul". In Xieng Khouang, each member of the team has kept for themselves memories and impressions that are hard to fade, such as the feeling of excitement when standing on the podium for the first time to teach Vietnamese to Lao students, the solidarity, care and concern for each other among the team members, and above all, the love and close attachment of the overseas students and Lao people for the volunteers from the brotherly country of Vietnam.
