Sowing seeds in Cao Veu village
(Baonghean) - In the early days of 2014, we had the opportunity to return to Cao Veu village - one of the remote, isolated, border areas of Anh Son district. We witnessed with our own eyes the teachers who diligently stayed in the village to "sow the seeds" of dreams for students in the highlands, and we realized their hardships and difficulties.
The bumpy road took us to Cao Veu village. This is one of the particularly difficult border villages of this mountainous district. The large Cao Veu village has 358 households with nearly 2,000 people, of which more than half are poor. For that reason, the education of students here is equally difficult. To get to class, many students have to walk 7 to 8 kilometers, and if they study all day, they also have to bring their own lunch to class.

With their enthusiasm, the teachers have not been afraid of difficulties, hardships, and disadvantages, and every month they have divided themselves to go to each village and hamlet to encourage students to go to class. After many years of staying in the villages to spread knowledge, now the teachers have become real locals, they know every road and every roof of the villages by heart. Education in the border areas has changed a lot when the Government's Programs 134 and 135 reached the highlands, schools have been solidified, and roads have become more convenient...
However, life in the border area is still full of difficulties and hardships. Teachers' lives are still "full of deprivation, lacking in sufficiency", many contract teachers still receive low salaries. With such a small salary, it is difficult to take care of oneself, let alone take care of family and children... However, the love for the profession and the joy of imparting knowledge to the children here have given them strength and confidence. Teacher Nguyen Canh Thanh, who has been in the village for 14 years, said: "As a contract teacher, life is still difficult, but with my love for the profession, I still try to stay in school and in class...".
Cao Veu Primary and Secondary School has 168 students, including 103 primary school students and 65 secondary school students. Although it was merged many years ago, Cao Veu Primary and Secondary School is still located in two different locations, the facilities are still weak and lacking, makeshift, even a teacher's waiting room is still missing, functional rooms such as libraries and practice laboratories are lacking. Many classrooms are seriously degraded. It can be said that to take care of education in border areas, we need more attention and care from the whole society. Mr. Nguyen Thuong Hien - Principal of the school shared: The school still faces many difficulties, especially in terms of facilities, I hope that all levels and sectors will pay attention and help so that the lives and studies of teachers and students will be less difficult...".
Saying goodbye to the teachers of Cao Veu Primary and Secondary School, who work tirelessly day and night in the village, we appreciate even more the hearts of the teachers here. Because no matter how difficult and hard it is, they still diligently and tirelessly nurture dreams for poor children in the border areas.
