(Baonghean) - With the desire to create a habit and build a reading culture for students, in recent years, schools in the province have made efforts to create an environment to attract students in many ways such as: Building attractive bookcases; friendly libraries; storytelling competitions based on books; organizing book reading festivals...

Sen Village Library is a very private space, located quietly in the middle of a crowded residential area of Kim Lien - Nam Dan commune. In the library, the entire first floor, over 120 square meters wide, is both a place to display and a place to read books, arranged scientifically, by topic with many valuable book sets such as "Dai Viet Su Ky Toan Thu", "Dai Nam Thuc Luc" and many classic literary books such as: "Cun den chien gio", "Nguoi nguoi kho", "The Steel was tempered that way"... And there is a separate bookshelf about Uncle Ho with hundreds of books collected and preserved for many years. The library also has a children's bookshelf to serve "young" readers, including many famous books that have followed many generations of students such as "De men phieu luu ky", "No family"...

Sen Village Library was built thanks to the heart of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung with the desire to be a place to create a source of knowledge and form a reading culture for people in the region. After more than 6 years of operation, the library has become a familiar destination for people in Kim Lien commune and neighboring communes. With over 10,000 books, the library has issued nearly 1,000 reading cards and is open most days of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays.

In particular, since the library was built, children in the village who are studying at universities and colleges, when they need to find reference materials or write their thesis, also come here to look up. Regarding textbooks, every year the library gives priority to poor students with difficult circumstances to borrow long-term. Many readers of the library, seeing this practical activity, have voluntarily donated books, or sent back newspapers and magazines to the library for common use. The Cultural Center of Nam Dan district has assigned a specialized staff to manage and organize activities for the library.

In recent years, Vinh Tan Primary School (Vinh City) has organized a reading festival with many useful and extremely rich activities. Phan Chien Thang, a 5A student, always remembers the memory of 2 years ago during the reading festival, when he played the role of Uncle Ho to perform a part of the story "Uncle Ho came to the orphans at Kim Dong camp". It was a special "transformation" because for the first time Thang wore a traditional Vietnamese dress, stood among the teachers and repeated each sentence that Uncle Ho had said to his friends at Kim Dong camp. Participating in the performance, Thang also understood better the content of the story that the narrator wanted to convey, which is to know how to cherish the things we have, no matter how small; to know how to care for and help the poor, to know how to love friends of the same age...

Vinh Tan Primary School's Book Festival usually takes place on April 23, the "World Book and Copyright" Day. On this day, teachers will compete in presenting and introducing books, students will participate in acting out excerpts of stories they have learned, and in storytelling competitions based on books; parents and students will also participate in donating books to the library or giving books to poor students... The program with many rich activities has really changed the perception of students and parents about books, especially in the context that many students of the school are still in difficult circumstances and do not have access to many books.

Through these activities, the thinking about books and reading habits of students in the school have changed positively, they are more excited about books and enjoy stories that teach ethics and behavior. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao - Vice Principal of the school shared: Reading culture must be practiced from a young age and school is the best environment to practice this habit for students. Currently at Vinh Tan Primary School, in addition to organizing a reading festival, they also build mobile library bookshelves in classrooms or carry out many interesting activities in the school library such as: reading books and giving fun puzzles for students to solve with the aim of creating more thinking ability for students; introducing good books in professional activities, introducing at the flag ceremony, through the school's young radio program, students participate in collecting and exhibiting texts (book covers, good paragraphs, good poems, beautiful pictures, jokes, ...).

Nghia Dong Secondary School Library (Tan Ky)

The Nghia Dong Secondary School Library (Tan Ky) was built with an open and friendly space. Here, in addition to reading, students are encouraged to express their thoughts and feelings in the creative corner. Many students have shared good stories and their favorite characters, thereby attracting more readers. The school also gives special priority to investing in the library, using information technology to search to facilitate students in the process of looking up documents. The school has just successfully organized the contest "Re-compose the ending for fairy tales" with over 50% of students in the school participating.

With the form of writing and drawing competitions by grade and class, the contest is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their thinking, creativity, and imagination, making the stories new and still have a fairy tale color. Many articles know how to build plots, create attractive and dramatic situations... showing the subtle creativity, new, unique, and surprising perspectives of students. Each article has profound educational value. Talking about the role of the library and the effectiveness of reading, Mr. Nguyen Van Manh, Principal of Nghia Dong Secondary School, added: "The library is a place to build the habit of self-reading, self-studying, and self-researching of students, thereby encouraging them to learn and do many good things according to stories and gradually create a basis for changing teaching and learning methods, especially in the current trend of innovation in learning methods...".

Thus, in many different ways, we can still kindle and spread the love of books to everyone, especially to young people. Then, from good books, from useful lessons… everyone can write many new stories, stories about tolerance, sharing with happy endings, bringing joy and happiness to everyone.
