Natural ham glows in the dark

On the morning of May 25, the interdisciplinary inspection team on food safety and hygiene in Ha Long City (Quang Ninh) continued to collect samples of pork sausage at some shops selling pork sausage in Ha Long 1 market, to clarify the incident in which a resident said that he discovered a piece of pork sausage he bought suddenly glowing at night.

Previously, on May 22, Mr. Do Van Tuan (Cua Van fishing village, Ha Long) bought 200 grams of pork roll from a grocery store in Cua Van fishing village and brought it home. Afterwards, Mr. Tuan was surprised to discover that the piece of pork roll he bought had a strange glow.

Mr. Tuan called some people living around his house to come and see. When they saw it, it was 1am, everyone was surprised when the ham emitted a blue light.

Everyone brought out a piece of ham bought from another place to compare and found that this piece of ham did not glow under the same conditions as the ham that Mr. Tuan bought.

On the morning of May 24, the Ha Long City Food Safety and Hygiene Inspection Team came to collect samples at the booth believed to be the source of the glowing ham and several other ham production establishments at Ha Long 1 market to inspect and clarify the cause.

Ha Long City authorities are also coordinating to investigate and clarify the incident.
