Lotus peanut variety in Nghi Loc reaches 6 tons/ha

(Baonghean.vn) - This spring crop, Nghi Loc planted 2,830 hectares of peanuts, mainly L20 and L14 hybrid lotus peanut varieties. This peanut variety has high yield (estimated at 6 tons/1 hectare), good price, each hectare brings in a profit of 65 million VND.

Although the beginning of the season was very cold, many areas had to be replanted a second time, thanks to timely care, spring peanuts in Nghi Loc still achieved high yields. Fresh peanuts sold at a good price, so farmers were very excited. Ms. Pham Thi Trung (Hamlet 13) Nghi Long said: This year, peanuts are very easy to sell, my family sold fresh peanuts as soon as they harvested, at a price of 14-15 thousand VND/kg. Thus, each sao of peanuts brings in an income of 3.5-4 million VND.

These days, many communes in Nghi Loc are entering the peanut harvest season.

The peanut growing area of ​​Nghi Loc is mainly concentrated in the communes of Nghi Truong, Nghi Thinh, Nghi Hop, Nghi Khanh, Nghi Long. Currently, people have only harvested about 15% of the area in sandy areas such as Nghi Long, Nghi Thinh.

Nghi Loc farmers are happy that the Sen Lai L20 peanut variety has both high yield and good price.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang - Head of Nghi Loc Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: This year's peanut yield in Nghi Loc averaged 2.7-3 quintals/sao, 30-40 kg/sao higher than the 2015 spring crop. The district Department of Agriculture directed people to harvest spring peanuts while preparing the land to grow summer-autumn watermelons.
