Before the National Day holiday on September 2, over the phone, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh, still with a cheerful and clear voice, said, "This Tet I will not return home from duty. The soldiers at the station are the same, they are used to it. Staying here to protect and celebrate Independence Day with the people is very fun. Mon Son is where the first party cell of the Western Nghe An region was established. Every time this time comes, all the villages of Mon Son are bustling with the Mon Son - Luc Da festival, going to the Muong Qua market is very fun...".

During our business trips to Mon Son, we met Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh, the Mass Mobilization Team of Mon Son Border Guard Station, many times, and went with her to visit the people in the villages of this remote border commune. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh is affectionately called "border guard Thanh" by the people because of the sincerity, sympathy and attachment of the female soldier in green uniform to the people. With a medium height, bright eyes and very agile and lively, every time we met her, the people of Mon Son had a happy and cheerful occasion because of her humor, humor and closeness.

Every time Ms. La Thi Nguyet in Cua Rao village mentions "border guard Ms. Thanh", she smiles. She confided that she has lived more than half her life without knowing how to escape poverty, and that her house has never had machinery or a full coop of pigs and chickens. "These miraculous things beyond her dreams are thanks to Ms. Thanh giving her a flock of chickens and teaching her how to grow crops and raise livestock. Now her family no longer lacks food or clothing, and has even bought a rice milling machine to provide services," Ms. Nguyet said.

In addition to Mrs. Nguyet's household, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Thanh also helped 7 other households, all of whom are Dan Lai ethnic people, to develop their family economy, giving them 6 rabbits, 250 chickens, 22 pigs, and various seedlings... worth over 50 million VND. For more than 4 years working at Mon Son Border Guard Station, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh, with her wholehearted love for her fellow countrymen, the female soldier in green uniform has participated with her unit in over 100 propaganda sessions on the Party's policies and the State's laws to the people.

In particular, nearly 1,000 Dan Lai women were listened to and had access to useful knowledge about economic development, cultural life, helping them abandon the custom of incestuous marriage among the Dan Lai people, limiting child marriage. In Mon Son, Dan Lai and Thai ethnic women also participated for the first time in the "Women participating in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security" Club, which was supported and established by Ms. Thanh in coordination with the locality, helping women to be more confident when they feel their important role in contributing to the community and society.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh is also the person who directly received support for 1 weak village Party cell to consolidate and build grassroots party organizations; advised on the effective implementation of 03 "Women participating in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security" Clubs with 105 members; advised on the establishment and maintenance of the "Accompanying dormitories in border areas" model, taking care of the lives and studies of hundreds of Dan Lai ethnic students. She and officers and soldiers of Mon Son Border Guard Station built a "Zero-dong stall" to give away tons of clothes, books, and supplies to people for free; called for help for poor people in Mon Son to build houses, build water works, treat diseases... with hundreds of millions of dong.

In late July 2023, sharing her joy about having just participated in calling for tens of millions of VND in funding to rebuild a house for a policy family in Mon Son, Ms. Tran Thanh confided that "she was happy to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony to build a house for the people, the joy was like meeting her mother again". Her mother had passed away for many years, but the longing for her mother of the female soldier in the green uniform seemed to have become the strength for her to fight for peace at the border. Her longing for her family was attached to the joys of work and dedication.

For the Border Guard force, as well as Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thi Tran Thanh, each officer and soldier has made silent contributions, silently overcoming the longing for family and loved ones to complete their tasks. During holidays and Tet, they still diligently patrol, guard, and maintain combat duty so that the people can be happy.

The same goes for Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Sy Duc, on the days when the whole nation joyfully reunites with family and friends to celebrate Independence Day and National Day, he and his teammates are still "on duty" at the agency with the special job that he has been attached to for nearly 20 years in the army. Before taking on the task at the Reconnaissance Department of the Provincial Border Guard Command in early August 2023, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Sy Duc had 17 years of working at border posts, working with people in particularly difficult areas. During his time as the Chief of My Ly Border Post, he was a person who was close to the grassroots, decisive in leading and directing the unit to excellently complete tasks, and together with officers and soldiers, built My Ly Post to become a Determined to Win Unit and a Cultural Unit for many consecutive years.

In 2022 alone, My Ly Station Chief Nguyen Sy Duc presided over and coordinated with relevant forces to detect, arrest, and handle a total of 28 cases/37 criminals, seizing 02 Heroin cakes; 34,841 synthetic drug pills, 02 kg of opium... Of which, My Ly Station presided over the arrest and prosecution of 16 cases/18 subjects; confiscated 36,683 synthetic drug pills, 16 cows. My Ly Station is also the first unit of Nghe An Border Guard to prosecute the accused, exercising all the criminal investigation authority of the Border Guard in the case of smuggling cattle across the border.

In 2023, continuing to promote decisiveness and action, Senior Colonel Nguyen Sy Duc chaired and reported to superiors to establish and command forces to successfully fight against project 621NA, arresting 01 subject, seizing 01 Heroin cake and 18,000 synthetic drug pills.

“The “Charity House” complex has been giving away free clothes, books, food, and necessities since the beginning, and has now opened a free barber shop; built 1 classroom with 10 computers “Connecting technology to villages and hamlets” to teach free IT to border residents in 25 villages in 2 communes of Bac Ly and My Ly.

Thanks to this special class, hundreds of students from the two remote border communes of Bac Ly and My Ly have had access to information technology for the first time, and have been taught by teachers in green uniforms how to recognize and eliminate bad and toxic information and fight against enemies and those who are taking advantage of ethnic minorities.
