Google NotebookLM: Adds Video Overview feature, upgrades Studio
Google rolls out Video Overview on NotebookLM, turning documents into visual videos, and upgraded Studio that lets you create multiple types of content at once.
Video Overviews: Turn complex information into easy-to-understand visuals
Google announced the rollout of Video Overview for NotebookLM from July 29, 2025, allowing users to convert documents such as notes, PDFs, images into easy-to-understand presentation slides.

The feature, introduced at Google I/O in May 2025, creates new visuals and uses charts, quotes, and figures from documents to explain data, processes, and abstract concepts.
Google says Video Overviews are a visual alternative to Audio Overviews. Users can customize Video Overviews by topic, learning objective, or target audience. For example, ask for “explain the graph to a beginner” or “focus on Z for X experts and Y groups.”
Video Overviews is currently rolling out to all users in English, with Google saying support for more languages is coming soon.
Studio Dashboard Upgrade: Diversify and Multitask
Google also announced updates to NotebookLM’s Studio panel. Users can now create and save multiple outputs of the same type in a single notebook. Additionally, users will see four tiles at the top of the Studio panel to create Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, Mind Maps, and Reports with a single click.

Additionally, users can now multitask within the Studio panel. For example, they can listen to an Audio Overview while exploring a Mind Map or reviewing a Study Guide.
