Google NotebookLM: Added Video Overview feature, upgraded Studio.
Google is rolling out Video Overview on NotebookLM, transforming documents into visual videos, along with an upgraded Studio that allows for the creation of multiple content formats simultaneously.
Video Overviews: Transforming Complex Information into Easily Understandable Visuals
Google announced the rollout of Video Overview for NotebookLM starting July 29, 2025, allowing users to convert documents such as notes, PDFs, and images into easy-to-understand presentation slides.
This feature, introduced at Google I/O in May 2025, creates new visual representations and uses charts, quotes, and figures from documents to explain data, processes, and abstract concepts.
Google states that Video Overviews are a visual alternative to Audio Overviews. Users can customize Video Overviews by topic, learning objective, or target audience. For example, they could request "explaining the chart for beginners" or "focusing on Z for expert X and group Y."
Video Overviews is currently being rolled out to all users in English, and Google says support for more languages will be added soon.
Studio Console Upgrade: Diversification and Multitasking
Google also announced the rollout of updates to NotebookLM's Studio panel. Users can now create and save multiple outputs of the same type within a single notebook. Additionally, users will see four tiles at the top of the Studio panel to create Audio Overviews, Video Overviews, Mind Maps, and Reports with just one click.
Additionally, users can now multitask within the Studio panel. For example, they can listen to the Audio Overview while exploring the Mind Map or reviewing the Study Guide.
