This morning, when accessing the homepage google.com.vn, users in Vietnam encountered the image of the Google logo (also known as Doodle) drawn specifically for millions of Vietnamese children on the occasion of this year's Mid-Autumn Festival. The Doodle image is designed based on traditional elements, bringing familiar images such as star lanterns, carp lanterns, moon cakes, full moon,...

An interesting highlight in this Doodle design is the image of a Vietnamese boy enjoying a traditional Moon Cake.

“Mid-Autumn Festival is a Children's Day, a joyful festival, symbolizing happiness and reunion. Through the Doodle image drawn specifically for Vietnam, Google wishes to express the innocent and joyful spirit of children on this special holiday. We are delighted and eager to celebrate this traditional holiday with Vietnam," said Ms. Sophie Tran, Marketing Director of Google in the Vietnamese market.

“Doodle” is the term used by Google to describe the decorative images on the Google logo on major holidays, notable events, or memories of the lives of talented artists, scientists or leaders. Doodles make searching for information with Google more interesting, and through those designs, users can learn more new information for themselves.

Doodles have long been an important part of Google's history. The first Doodle was designed when Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin asked then-intern Dennis Hwang, the Chief Doodle Designer, to draw a logo for Google in 2000. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival Doodle is one of more than 2,000 designs for Google homepages around the world.
