Google admits nearly 100% of Android phones are “vulnerable”

The information that nearly 100% of Android phones are at risk of falling into the hands of hackers has been acknowledged by the American giant. Google said it is quickly fixing the bug to fix this vulnerability.

Yesterday, German researchers released a report saying that nearly 100% of phones running the Android operating system are at risk of data leakage when using services, such as Google Calendar, Contacts and Picassa on public Wi-Fi networks.

Researchers discovered a number of flaws in the authentication protocol, which left data unencrypted as it was transmitted over wireless networks. Attackers could then use the “leaked” data to impersonate legitimate users and gain access to online accounts such as Google Calendar, Twitter, and Facebook.

In an official announcement, Google said it would release a patch in the coming days.
