Google announced a bounty of up to $1,000 for discovering critical security flaws in third-party apps.

According to technology news site BGR, in fact, this technology giant has long had a reward program for discovering security flaws in its software. However, recently, Google has expanded the program to include software not developed by their engineers.

Accordingly, the new reward program encourages hackers to point out security vulnerabilities in popular third-party apps listed on the Play Store.

The program's goal is clearly to better secure applications running on the Android platform, limiting the damage when a serious issue is discovered.

Although not a common situation, in the past, there have been many times when malware has caused widespread impacts on many Android applications.

Currently, the bug bounty program only applies to Android apps developed by Google and third-party apps such as: Alibaba, Dropbox, Duolingo, Headspace, Line, Mail.Ru, Snapchat and Tinder.

In the future, this program may be expanded with more third-party applications.
