Reporter: Could you please tell us the main functions and tasks of the Nghe An Tourism Promotion Information Center?

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong:10 years ago, on April 29, 2004, the Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee signed Decision No. 1601/QD.UB on the establishment of Nghe An Tourism Promotion Center under the Department of Tourism (old). On August 10, 2004, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 86/2004/QD.UB.NV on promulgating the Regulation on organization and operation of Nghe An Tourism Promotion Center. After 4 years of operation, on June 6, 2008, Pursuant to Joint Circular No. 43/2008/TTLT-BVHTTDL-BNV of the Ministry of Culture - Sports & Tourism and the Ministry of Home Affairs guiding the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism under the

Provincial People's Committee, Department of Culture and Information under District People's Committee. Accordingly, the Tourism Promotion Center changed its name to Nghe An Tourism Promotion Information Center. The Center is responsible for: organizing activities to promote Nghe An tourism domestically and internationally according to the tourism promotion strategy approved by the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; researching, synthesizing and providing information on tourism, promoting market expansion activities; promoting investment in the tourism sector in Nghe An. Carrying out tasks assigned by the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An.

Reporter: Tourism is identified by our province as one of the key economic sectors. Over the past 10 years, how has the Center contributed to promoting and developing Nghe An's tourism potential, Madam?

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong:In order to contribute to promoting and promoting the rich tourism potential of the province, over the past 10 years, the Center has always been proactive and creative in finding new forms of advertising and propaganda, effectively exploiting mass media, organizing well the training and fostering of tourism knowledge, researching and developing Nghe An tourism... Thanks to that, the Center has made its mark in all aspects of its activities.

Regarding domestic and international tourism promotion: organize and participate in dozens of tourism events in the cities: Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Dien Bien, the southern provinces, mainly Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh City, countries such as: Laos, Thailand, China to promote and introduce Nghe An tourism to a large number of tourists and people. Compile, print and publish tens of thousands of tourism promotion publications with increasingly improved quality, rich content and many innovations. Form an electronic information portal connecting with most departments, branches, localities, especially the Nghe An tourism website is connected via the transmission line of the General Department of Tourism, linked with tourism websites of localities nationwide; publish internal tourism newsletters to 64 provinces and cities nationwide; Cooperate with local and central television stations to produce and broadcast many films introducing historical and cultural relics, scenic spots, products, and tourism services of Nghe An...

Regarding information synthesis and investment promotion activities: Initially forming a tourism information data system from the grassroots to the provincial level. In particular, effectively implementing activities to promote the development of road tourism routes in key markets such as the northern provinces, especially Hanoi, the southern provinces, mainly Hue City, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vientiane Capital - Laos, 18 northeastern provinces of Thailand (Khonkean, Udonthani ...), China (Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangzhou ...); France, Japan, Russia ... Providing tourism information is actively implemented, in addition to fairs and seminars, providing information to tourists via the website is effectively implemented. In addition, the tourism industry has also linked up to provide information on Nghe An tourism in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, etc. Exploiting and developing new tourism products that Nghe An has strengths in such as culture, history, spirituality, resorts, and eco-tourism associated with the Western community. Cooperating and linking with provinces and cities in the country and in the region to build a number of attractive tours and tourist routes by road and air such as the one-day tour of three countries along Route 8, three countries in one destination, the Central Heritage Road tour, the 1,000-year journey of the ancient Vietnamese capital, the Nghe An - Xieng Khouang - Luang Prabang tour along Route 7 to Route 8, the Truong Son Road tour; supporting localities in the province such as Cua Lo, Nam Dan, Vinh City, Con Cuong, Quy Chau, etc. in promoting the image of destinations and building intra-provincial tourist routes. Participating in regional, domestic and international seminars.

Regarding business support activities: Consulting and supporting businesses to build and put into operation intra-provincial, inter-provincial, and inter-national tourism products, while accessing domestic and international tourist markets, contributing to shaping the tourist market for Nghe An province's tourism. Since 2004, with the support of the province's BSPS Component 1 project, the Center has coordinated with major training institutions such as the Faculty of Tourism - Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Economics, Hanoi College of Tourism, Institute of Tourism Development Research, General Department of Tourism to organize many training courses on tourism knowledge, tourism and hotel management skills, and tourism promotion skills. Training and retraining of the workforce directly working in tourism are organized and implemented in line with actual training needs, thereby increasing the professional knowledge of tourism, making the working attitude more positive and the foreign language communication ability of the workforce clearly improved, contributing significantly to improving the quality of services and the image of Nghe An tourism in recent times. Proactively advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Program to promote Nghe An tourism until 2015; Project to build the brand of Nghe An tourism enterprises and a series of documents directing tourism promotion activities in the province. In recognition of these results, the Center has been awarded the title of Excellently Completed Collective 6 times; 7 times the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded the Certificate of Merit; 4 times the Center was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism for the Unit that successfully completed its tasks, and the Certificate of Merit for organizing major events in the North Central region. In particular, in 2014, the Center was honored to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister.

Reporter: In addition to the achievements, we also frankly recognize that tourism promotion activities still have limitations. So to overcome these limitations, what will the Center focus on in the coming time, Madam?

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong:To meet the requirements of integration, especially contributing to promoting Nghe An tourism, the Center has set specific tasks in the coming time such as: promoting promotion, expanding the tourism market, considering domestic tourism as the focus, at the same time continuing to consolidate the international markets of Thailand, Laos, China, gradually expanding to ASEAN countries, Korea, Japan, ... Diversifying forms of propaganda with profound and selective content to effectively promote the potential of Nghe An tourism products; strengthening investment promotion to strongly attract investment resources for tourism; taking care of building the Center's staff in terms of quantity, expertise and foreign languages; improving the competitiveness of Nghe An tourism enterprises in terms of tourism products and market research; continuing to implement the targets and plans set out in the Nghe An Tourism Promotion Program until 2015; On that basis, proactively advise on preparing to develop a 5-year tourism promotion plan and program (2015-2020) to contribute to the whole industry in achieving the targets of increasing the number of visitors and revenue.
