During the period 1956 - 1965, despite many difficulties and shortages, the school trained many generations of excellent students. Among them, the most typical is Nguyen Tam Chien, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan and the United States. During the period from 1965 to 1975, due to war conditions, the school had to move location continuously but still ensured competition for good teaching and good learning.

Many students of this period grew up to be engineers, bachelors, doctors or successful senior officers in many fields, of which the most typical is Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department. From 1975 to 1997, the school experienced the most separations, including the period when the school's students went to their respective communes, Ly Thanh and Lien Thanh, to study. In the same year, Lien Thanh School's students were transferred to a new facility (current location) and began to be built more spaciously. After building 14 high-rise classrooms and a number of functional classrooms. Since 1998, the school has begun a new period of development and continued to build a group of teachers who are good at their profession and dedicated to their work, so they have continuously achieved excellent results in teaching. In 2002, for the first time, Lien Thanh commune was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for educational achievements.

Implementing the policy of re-planning schools, on July 18, 2008, Yen Thanh District People's Committee issued a decision to merge Lien Thanh Secondary School and Ly Thanh Secondary School into Lien - Ly Secondary School. In the first school year of the new period, the school had 18 classes with nearly 800 students and a staff of nearly 50 teachers and employees. More than 6 years after the merger, the school has achieved great results, the facilities have been fully built, the whole school is connected to the Internet, 100% of students have studied Information Technology and information technology is applied in the teaching and management process; security, safety and order and discipline in the school are always maintained; not only the key quality but also the general quality is improved day by day. In 6 years, the school has 407 excellent students at the district level, 8 excellent students at the provincial level, including 1 First prize and 1 Second prize; 22 teachers achieved the title of excellent teachers at the district level, 1 excellent teacher at the province level; 22 emulation fighters at the grassroots level. Thanks to the above achievements, for 6 consecutive years, the school has achieved the title of advanced and excellent advanced, and has been awarded the Certificate of Merit for Excellent Emulation Unit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee twice.

Since the 2008-2009 school year, Lien - Ly Secondary School has always maintained 4 blocks from grade 6 to grade 9. From 2011 to 2014, the school maintained a scale of 15 classes/school year, an average of 31 students/class, ensuring compliance with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
