Comments on the draft action plan to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality
(Baonghean) -This morning, June 10, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a meeting to collect opinions from relevant departments and agencies to contribute to the draft "Action Plan to implement the National Strategy on Gender Equality in Nghe An for the period 2011 - 2015."
The Draft Action Plan for the Implementation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality aims to: improve the effectiveness of state management of gender equality in the province; organize activities to support and promote integration in the process of developing and implementing local policies, laws, programs and projects; organize activities to support the implementation of gender equality in a number of areas and regions with large gender equality gaps. The general goal by 2015 is to basically ensure equality between men and women in terms of opportunities, participation and benefits in the political, economic, cultural and social fields, contributing to the rapid development of the country.
The specific goals set out are: increasing women's participation in management and leadership positions; reducing the gender gap in the economic, labor and employment sectors; increasing access of poor women in rural areas and ethnic minority women to economic resources and the labor market; improving the quality of female human resources, gradually ensuring equal participation between men and women in the fields of education and training - in the fields of culture and information; ensuring gender equality in family life, gradually eliminating gender-based violence; improving state management capacity on gender equality.
Solutions to achieve the goals set out in the draft are to strengthen the leadership of party committees, authorities, and organizations at all levels; raise awareness; improve women's capacity to create conditions for women's development; and enhance the effectiveness of state management on gender equality.
At the meeting, members basically agreed with the goals and solutions proposed in the draft; regarding comments, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs will supplement them to complete the draft and submit it to the Provincial People's Committee for promulgation in the coming time.
