Andy Murray defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic 7-6, 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2 to win his first US Open title. This is also the first time the Scottish player has won a Grand Slam title in his career.

Thus, after 76 years, since the legendary Fred Perry won the US Open in 1936, the UK has had the pleasure of participating in a Grand Slam tournament for the first time.

Before the final, these two players had faced each other 15 times, with Nole winning 9 and Andy winning 6. The difference of 3 wins is not too big, but Murray still feels pain every time he meets Nole. They have only met twice in the history of the Grand Slam, and both times Nole won, and each time he defeated Murray, he was the champion. That was at the 2011 Australian Open and the 2012 Australian Open semi-finals.

However, Murray can now smile as his Grand Slam dream has not turned away from him like the previous four times he reached the final. Tears streamed down the Scot's face but they were not bitter tears like when he lost to Roger Federer in the 2012 Wimbledon final.

True to the nature of a final match, at Arthur Ashe, the confrontation between Murray and Djokovic was extremely tense, attractive and dramatic right from the first games. The two players took turns breaking to force the first set into a tie-break.

In the penalty shootout, drama once again occurred when the two players competed "equally" and Murray showed more courage to win a close 12-10 victory, thereby temporarily gaining a small advantage in a final match in which he had high expectations.

Having taken the lead after the first set, Murray played like a maniac in the first four games of the second set, winning two break points in a row to lead 4-0. However, Nole was not so easily defeated. The Serbian player woke up to score important points, thereby gradually shortening the gap to 1-4, 2-4 before leveling at 5-5, putting Murray in a difficult situation.

However, at the most sensitive moment, Murray seemed to "come back to life" after a long period of losing his breath to win 2 consecutive points, thereby winning the 2nd set, an extremely large advantage for him to successfully realize his Grand Slam dream for the first time after 4 failed attempts.

Unexpectedly losing the first two sets, the tension was clearly shown on Novak Djokovic's face. However, in contrast to that face, the Serbian player played more calmly to control Murray's excitement. It was his calmness, courage and ability to take advantage of opportunities that helped the defending champion win quickly 6-2 after only 46 minutes of fighting.

The win to reduce the gap to 1-2 seemed to create a lot of momentum for the Serbian player entering the fourth set. Djokovic got an early break point to take a 2-0 lead, then maintained the gap by 2 points before ending the set with a 6-3 victory with an important break point. The 2-2 result forced the two players to decide the winner in the fifth set.

Entering the deciding set, Murray was the player with the advantage, not Djokovic. The Scot surprised everyone when he won 2 break points to take a 3-0 lead. A victory was in Murray's hands. But Djokovic was not so easily defeated. The champion's position was announced at the right time when he won back a break point before shortening the score to 2-3.

However, Murray quickly closed out his service game to lead 4-2, before winning the third break point of the set but one of the most important of his career to take a 5-2 lead. The title was within reach for the reigning London Olympic champion.

In the deciding game, Murray was the one serving and he took advantage of this opportunity to end the match with a final score of 6-2. Thus, Murray finally completed his Grand Slam dream. Congratulations Andy Murray!
