Hanoi: Discovered facility injecting impurities into dead shrimp to increase weight
On February 7, Mr. Duong Ngoc Vien, Captain of Market Management Team No. 17 (Hanoi Market Management Department) said that the unit had just inspected and discovered that the frozen shrimp business establishment owned by Ms. Le Thi Lanh, in Dien Xa village, Quang Tien commune, Soc Son, Hanoi, had seriously violated food safety and hygiene.
This facility purchased dead shrimp and injected impurities into the shrimp to increase the weight of the goods sold on the market for illegal profits.
At the time of inspection, the authorities caught 3 people in the act of adding impurities to shrimp. This impurity was a pre-mixed, opaque white powder solution.
On-site inspection at the facility found 150kg of shrimp packed in 3 foam boxes that had been injected with a solution and preserved with crushed frozen ice, and 5kg of opaque white powder contained in a sack used to mix and inject into each shrimp.
The shrimp injected with impurities are mainly transported to markets, restaurants, event venues, and wedding parties in Hanoi and other provinces and cities across the country.
Market Management Team No. 17 has temporarily detained all 150kg of shrimp and 5kg of flour, taken samples to assess product quality according to regulations, and completed the dossier to handle the business owner according to regulations./.
